Are there any proto/concept designs of characters did you love more than what we got?

There are honestly a bunch of ships where I liked them until they became in canon and then canon portrayed them in a way that ruined the ship for me.

House/Cuddy. Booth/Bones. Back when I was into Harry Potter, Tonks/Remus was a big one. I shipped it until it became canon.

Overwatch has some cool concept designs. Proto Moira had really cool tentacles which would be so much cooler than her final design. :(

the last time I saw concept art that would have been cooler than the actual in-game character was for Suikoden V. since then I feel like most creators but especially video games (they go through a lot of concept designs before settling on a look, way more than anime or even big-budget movies) have gotten really good at discerning that their first ideas aren't their best ideas.

like, I even remember all the concept art for Star Wars that would have looked utterly stupid in movies but eventually did get sort of used in video games, where it became an easter egg for fans. they weren't great concepts, at all, and I'm glad the art directors knew that from the get-go.

Cate Blanchett- Borderlands is pretty terrible.

I love Tim Roth in nearly everything. Even when it’s a bad movie, he’s usually fun to watch.

But I was really disappointed with his role in the Hulk movie. I know the guy can play a range of great villains and I just didn’t feel it there.

I really like Keanu Reeves, but whoever decided to cast him as Don Jon in Much Ado About Nothing needs their head examined. I have to fast forward through his scenes when I rewatch. A Shakespearean actor, he is not.

Anything that doesn't have a character I can root for. Anything where we're just supposed to root for the main characters because they aren't quite as bad as the villains. Dark vs. Darker is not my cup of tea at all.

Also anything completely dark and grim with no hope at all. I can only handle that in single-episode shows like Black Mirror. Anything else, and I get too depressed.

Anything with a lot of second hand embarrassment. So The Office or Seinfeld.

Stranger Things. I watched the first couple episodes and while I appreciated the fairly realistic 80s aesthetic, I just didn’t like or care about anyone. And the social groups were very 21st century, which was very distracting.

It would be shorter to list the shows I can. The Office, It's Always Sunny, South Park, The Simpsons, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Squid Game, Severance, etc etc.

Grimdark for grimdark's sake; a lot of shows like GoT fit this bill for me.

Also, Good Omens and The Office. The latter should have been fun and enjoyable because I loved Parks and Rec but I tried 2 episodes and couldn't finish either one.

'Awkward' comedies like the UK Office and recent Superhero shows from either DC or Marvel. For the latter, the last one I remember actually sitting down and enjoying was Supergirl - otherwise I just can't seem to finish any other show like that.

Is there anything, whether character, ship, headcanon, anything else where the fandom made you change your opinion? Like you used to like a character, but the fandom's obsession made you hate them. Or you disliked a ship, but all the fandom hate made you start to like?

Darcy Lewis. I didn't hate her or anything but she started showing up in EVERY fandom I read fanfic for. I can't escape her.

Absolutely, every time. Most recent: we've got lesbian couple in one of latest parts of the canon. I knew that fandom was going to be most annoying about it. And they are. At this point I am starting grumbling and blocking every time I see heir names mentioned.

I shipped comics Stony, then the 1st Avengers came out. I was meh but a lot of good new fics appeared so I read it. Then it became worse and worse. I hate the ship after Ultron.

Not a character but a person. I used to like and even hype a bit the Thumbs era of Sabrina Carpenter, but then the industry turned her into this Taylor Swift 2.0 and the TSwift fans found her and it went downhill

There's a fandom I've been in, where I did not initially have any strong opinions on top/bottom dynamics.

ONE person in that fandom, back before it was popular, had VERY strong opinions about who 'could' top/bottom. And during the time that I was inactive in the fandom, that one person gained a huge following, influenced a lot of people, and really transformed the landscape of said fandom into one where there was a 'right answer'.

The fandom gets big, I swing back into it, and I discover there are people who weren't even around back in the day who will bully you for making the 'wrong' character top/bottom.

So now I ONLY write or read content where that person's 'exclusive bottom' tops. Because fuck that.

I was washing dishes and cut my thumb on a blender blade. :/ Thankfully it is a clean cut that didn't even bleed after the initial cut but what a stupid spot.
