(Anonymous) 2025-08-21 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)No but serious answer, I check them out from the library and if I love them and know I'll want to read them again, then I buy them. Rarely my library can't get a copy of a book, then I'll just go ahead and buy it if I'm really jonesing to read it.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-21 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)Never tried audiobooks but I don't think I'd like them. I do like long-form made-for-audio podcasts that are basically books, though.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-22 12:02 am (UTC)(link)Saaame. It always make me laugh that people like to say ebooks are helpful for people with ADHD because that is the absolute opposite of my experience. I just for some reason cannot sink into ebooks the same way I can physical books, my mind just wanders. (General Disclaimer: I know everyone is different, it probably does help others with ADHD)
Re: Based on 1
(Anonymous) 2025-08-22 12:11 am (UTC)(link)other ADHD fellow here and same! Physical books is all I tend to read because I can immerse more easily and don't lose focus than much. But I read fanfics on e-reader because reading them on a browser is like inviting my ADHD gremlin to open a new tab every time I have a fleeting secondary distracted thought.
Maybe people say that reading on an e-reader is easier because they compare it to reading on a Tablet or the computer? Who knows.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-22 12:01 am (UTC)(link)I do get some duds that way but for the most part that works for me.

I also seek out authors who have had their books turned into interesting movies or series (that Silo series on tv was an interesting read), or i read the plot summaries that come in my email from some book sales groups.
Then I hope that I can get it from the library.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-22 12:48 am (UTC)(link)I'm that late Gen X type who could never be bothered to figure out how to pirate stuff. And yes, I've been told it's easy. I've even been told I'm stupid and lazy for not figuring it out. Like geez, y'all pirates do you, and I'll do me. I ain't judging.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-22 04:39 am (UTC)(link)I read book reviews from magazines and newspapers, monitor the Recent additions page on my library's website, and browse a publisher's catalogue if I come across one to find new stuff to read.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-22 08:07 am (UTC)(link)or paper books.. I don't buy those, because my backlog goes for years and years
