I started a rewatch of TNG but everyone looks so old and wrinkly. I used to ship Picard and Q but wasn't exsited about them this time. Is it that the screens became huge? Is it that I became old and started noticing ageing signs that I didn't noticed when I was young? No idea. It all feels dated, characters look old, plots simple and presictable.

At least I still like TOS even though it's ancient. McCoy/Spock, anyone?

I'm finding more and more my shipping is reducing to where I find at least one of the characters attractive, and usually both. Maybe it is because I'm in fandom a whole lot less. But I used to ship things like Palpatine/Anakin, Voldemort(ugly version, not Riddle version)/Harry, Alistair/Dean.

I still like those dynamics a lot, I just don't ship them per say.

That's kind of interesting since Patrick Stewart was about 47 and John de Lancie about 39 in 1987 and DeForest Kelley was about 46 and Leonard Nimoy was about 35 in 1966.

I did not ship these two until Love and Thunder. I didn't really like Jane at all until this movie. I don't get the hate Love and Thunder gets. It was almost as good as Ragnarok.

the "hate" is a lot of people disagreeing with your opinion that it was good. it was not good, which is my opinion. it was in fact terrible. it had a few promising moments at the beginning and then it went off the rails. I didn't like it.

I'm glad you liked it, nonny, I did not. I will never like it.

I Wish they a hire Stover to re-write all the Star Wars movie novelizations. Particularly the OT. He has a gift for getting into character's heads. I'd especially love his take on Vader's redemption.

I used to love Brian Lumley's Necroscope books, I get they were problematic even at time of publication, but they've become so dated and out of step that I just can't enjoy them anymore. And I don't know how to feel about this.

How to you...like tell people you're being triggered by your fandom?

What's happening right now in my fandom overlaps a lot with my own personal trauma (trauma, might I tell you I joined fandom to escape). It's not at all something I could've predicted happening when I started liking the thing that I like, but now...it's just too much at times.

I'm so withdrawn from the rest of my fandom, that I don't feel a major part of it, but even following the news can sometimes hurt.

I want to be proactive and work through these feelings, but I feel far too embarrassed to talk to another person about them.

I can't bring myself to care about shifters. 7 foot blue/grey/green ect alien who speaks English? Sure I'll buy that. Can't do a wolf/dragon shifter.

There's like a mental block that says that's not real. It's weird but I can't turn my brain off enough to enjoy it. Id even be able to stomach it being like a glamour spell or something but a man who transmogrifies into a thing that isn't a person and is bigger or smaller I just can't! lol

I DNF'd a book because a shifter showed up in chapter 2.
