Thank you! Doing okay family and people wise. Still really worried about our male foster kitten. He just seems to sleep way more than the other three. But he is eating and drinking and plays sometimes. Just....sleeps a lot more. :(

I don't think this actually helps people long term. In the moment it seems like a good idea, but all it really does is encourage rumination.

Better to help people get outside of themselves and stop fixating on what's wrong.

Thanks, I hope you’re doing well, too! It’s my first Christmas since a devastating loss and it hasn’t been easy. Luckily I’m surrounded by good people who are giving me grace instead of judgement. I’ve done most of my gift exchanges already meeting up with friends for lunch and stuff like that. It’s been a nice way to get through the season with a lot more laughter than I thought I had in me.

I have mainly small frustrations that add up into bigger ones. My dad's behaviour has been getting worse and worse over the last months. He's turning into this 50s asshole stereotype (just not as politically conservative) and now he's ruining everyone's mood all the time and acts the victim whenever you even mildly criticise him in any way. We hope there's nothing neurological going on but it's more likely it's a mix of senile stubborness and the fact that he's going increasingly deaf but won't admit it.

Has everyone wrapped all the gifts they’re giving? I have the gifts neatly stacked on the counter next to the tape, scissors, and wrapping paper. We’re celebrating tomorrow but I just can’t find the motivation to wrap stuff.

Did the last of them yesterday when a friend popped round and said she was going on to another friend. I already had everything set out on my desk, so did both gifts in about two minutes, shouting "Speed wrap! Speed wrap!" in the manner of Lower Decks. It's amazing how fast I can do a task I've been AHDH'ing when I really have to.

No. :( But in my defense, the last gift is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. So I've got my fingers crossed it shows up in time. Everything else is wrapped though!

75% done. I had the similarly sitting all ready for a about a week and finally got to most of them on Sunday. I have a one or two more and then little stocking stuffers to get to and I'll be done.

Yep, fifty-four separate gifts. That I bought on Saturday (was waiting for a paycheck). It's been a marathon, with ten different types of wrapping paper, a profusion of ribbons of many different colors and sizes, and gift tags galore. But it's done.

I got mine done earlier today. I just chucked all of that shit into gift bags and threw some tissue paper in. I used to really enjoy wrapping presents and arranging gift bags to look nice, now I guess I'm old and tired because I just don't care.

Your comment reminded me that no, I hadn't! I was mostly done, just a small pile of stuff left. I actually like wrapping presents, but I've been so busy cleaning that it slipped my mind.

absolutely the fuck not, for two reasons, one practical and one stupid.

Practical: it's a massive waste of resources. Many paper-adjacent products are actually NOT recyclable, depending on your state/city/municipal recycling area, including tissue paper. Who know? I didn't until last week! Our municipality can't process tissue and any wrapping paper with a coating, which means about 90% of papers (glitter, metallic, etc).

Stupid: I have one sister who is of the uttermost mental process that a gift isn't "real" if it isn't in some kind of wrapping. She refuses to even get her own family gift cards or similar non-packaged gifts because they can't be "opened" like a wrapped gift. If I say no, just give me money I'll decide whether to apply it to a bill or buy some jeans that fit, no, she throws a tantrum and buys me a shirt I would never wear just to have a physical object in a physical box with physical wrapping. idk what her deal is but I ain't playing that game, so fuck that entirely, give me money or give me nothing, I will accept nothing. I'm fine with nothing. I don't need your damn ugly sweater because your mental concept of holiday is ruined when someone won't unwrap a box.

So no. None o that. If she doesn't want my thoughtfully sewn or knitted item I know she and her dogs will love because it wasn't in a box? Fuck all the way off.
