Exactly this, it's about what I find personally appealing and hot, it's that deep.

Does anyone have any good ways for coping with PTSD triggers that you can't avoid?

Someone at my work is triggering my PTSD. I can't completely avoid them, and while I'm looking for a new job, I can't leave this one unless I have one lined up.

I haven't had to deal with my PTSD for years, so I'd forgotten what it feels like. And it is definitely affecting my job performance.

I try to mostly focus on PTSD management outside of the triggering situation, like making sure to spend time on self care, journaling, calming hobbies, to return to a calm baseline before I go back to the trigger. In the triggering situation I use grounding exercises to manage flashbacks. It's definitely hard to deal with PTSD at work, good luck OP.

anon above and I agree. i always assume that that's the case for anyone: you like a certain top/bottom dynamic because you PERSONALLY find it hot, not because it has something to do with it being IC/OOC but of course there's people in fandom who get crazy over this stuff. I usually take their characterisation into consideration for the sub/dom dynamic, but character and sexual preference do not always (if ever tbh) correlate IRL, so it's just vibes and horniness from my part.
Visually I like twinks/emaciated men topping healthy big beefcakes (see Hawks/Endeavor & Victor/Jayce). And that's it. lol /shrug

I don't like dicks IRL but in fiction DAMN bottoms with big dicks are so hot to me. I agree with everything you said re: seeing a hung bottom getting off on the more sensual pleasure of getting filled and teased drives me crazier than watching a hung top!!! Thank you for your service!

I don't think I've ever really had a fixed top/bottom ship. Sometimes I go through phases where I only want to read about X topping, but it's more about fic cravings than headcanons if that makes sense.

Books and bookshelves on lots of walls. Always lived in homes that were libraries.

Cat trees, cat toys, cat things.

Like a lot of the time people seem to be projecting their own weird gender roles or expectations by accusing you of whatever.

I guess I’m kind of the opposite. I love a villainous character who’s a bit less evil or just more intelligent and pragmatic than the Bigger Bad.

If the story feels like it’s trying to whitewash them, that’s another thing. But I’m a sucker for “lesser of two evils”.

Yeah shaming what people like in fiction is annoying as fuck and I say this as someone who rarely cares about top/bottom dynamics for my ships. I'm happy to read whatever so long as it feels in character, but the way I've seen people get so nasty at anyone who happens to have a preference is weird as shit.

So long as no one is harassing someone else over what they like I do not care if someone has a strict preference and only reads/writes that preference, it's fucking fanfic for gods sake, it's really not that important.

It will definitely play a part. All of the schools and daycares being closed for so long plus everyone being housebound will definitely have an effect. I don't know if it will just be a break or a delay or lessen it overall though.

I had to look on a globe. It was driving me potty. Apparently I'm slow at this? I do other things after first looking at the outline. Game, you are so judgemental.

I mostly don't really care, I'm happy to read whatever so long as I enjoy the writing. I do have a few ships where I slightly prefer one character bottoming over the other but it's not so much that I won't ever read the alternative.

I'm actually way pickier about dom/sub and alpha/omega dynamics than top/bottom lol.

Everything I know about Warhammer and Warhammer 40k is from TV Tropes and Wiki.

Everything I know about World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons is from Tv Tropes, Wiki, and the movies.

If everyone had the sense to say “this is hot to me”, all of this nonsense would be much less unpleasant.

(Or even “I think this is in character for this reason, given this reading of the character.” It’s the weird zealotry that’s awful and unnecessary.)

Does “fixed shipper” mean someone who has a fixed personal preference or someone who thinks there should be a universal fixed dynamic in fic/art/other portrayals?

Yeah, for real. I'm a woman (het) and a dom. I always write BDSM fic from the eyes of the dom.

Does anyone else ever have this happen? Where their queue just won't fucking come up? I've been in this queue for over half an hour. The estimated wait time is currently 7 minutes. It has ranged from 6 minutes to 8 minutes the whole time I've been waiting. It's for timewalking. I queued as DPS. My guildie who queued after I did, also for DPS, has already had their queue pop after less than 10 minutes. We are on the same server. I'm so fucking frustrated. I just want to get this shit done.

I've had this happen before. Some characters seem to have this glitch where it just won't fucking work for excessive amounts of time if at all. It was very noticeable over Halloween year before last. I ran the event dungeon on a dozen characters. 10 of them get in within 2 to 5 minutes. 2 of them have these queues that are 15+ minutes. It's so fucking frustrating especially because one of the characters this happens to, is my fucking main.

Blankets, pillows, cushions, throws, plushies, etc. And lots of color.
