I never cared that I have only one follower on tumblr. We do not share any fandoms. But for the first time in ten years, I found an active fandom I want to participate in. I posted a few takes. They will never get a single like or reblog. That stings.

I don't have any fandom followers on tumblr for my current fandom, but with the magic of tags, my one fandom shitpost got seen by plenty of people.

I rarely got anything when I first started out. Turns out tumblr had shadowbanned me. Nothing I posted showed up in the tags at all.

That's part of what keeps me from using Tumblr properly, not just scrolling and liking posts. I worry that no one would want to read what I have to say and having that actually confirmed for me would kinda suck, especially if I took the time to write something out nicely.

I feel like most of the people who came to Tumblr from twitter or whatever just...don't know how to use Tumblr, and this is a prime example. How you join a fandom on Tumblr, as opposed to just posting into the void, is that you start seeking out and following fandom blogs that post things you like, reblogging from them, tagging your own posts, and checking the fandom tags regularly to see what's going on. I've done this multiple times. You will eventually get some follows back and even if you don't take off to be one of the big name fans, you will be part of the greater Tumblr fandom. It takes a bit of time, but that's how you do it.

Since I submitted the secret, one of my posts got a wonderful comment, a reblog and an amazing addition – from three different people! And another person went through my blog and liked a bunch of posts! I'm so happy! :D :D :D

To answer some questions: I have had a tumblr for over ten years, and have been blogging daily (my queue publishes 4 posts per day) for five. My blog is not private. I only reblog, sometimes add thoughts in the tags, but practically never add to the body or make my own posts. I reblog jokes, art, memes, stories, ... very little fandom content. I do tag, but with very generic tags ("art") or my own highly specific tags; tags are so I can navigate my own blog, not with others finding me in mind. Like I said, I never cared; my tumblr is just my personal collection of fun tumblr posts. I do not follow tags or browse the For You page, I use tumblr classic(TM) where I reblog from people I follow, or go through someone's blog, and I assumed that the majority of users do the same. Over the years, I had maybe three posts liked or reblogged, I assumed from people who went out of their way to check reblog chains and find a blog to repost from that wasn't ~tainted~ in some way.

I had done all the things you suggested for my new fandom posts (tagging the fandom, writing my thoughts as additions to other posts instead of my own; I haven't found anyone I wanted to follow in this fandom, but I did go through several users blogs and like/reblog en masse). Turns out it does work. I was just pessimistic. (Considering the past years why wouldn't I be?) Apparently, fandom has its own dynamics. Who knew.

Ok, I've been on tumblr for 15 years and I find the fact someone had one follower in a decade strange? My new blog is de-indexed because it's a closed off diary for me, I can't post in tags, but I still have at least 30 followers because I follow other people, like posts, reply, and reblog stuff. What were you doing?

I know the GBM judges are scripted to ask questions like this, but Michael O'Hare asking if this chef's serving platter with fake grass was "too gimmicky" for a theme of summer and Wimbledon when he himself served his raw langoustine starter in a giant space egg with a personal photo collage on the inside just FLOORED ME. Like how can you agree to call anyone's props gimmicky after that? And to present it to Marcus Wareing of all chefs...

One of the biggest authors for a tiny fandom I like only writes in first person. I DESPISE first person POV in fic and hate I can't read her fics because they sound interesting.

I really enjoyed the first two full cast Harry Potter audiobooks. But I just finished Prisoner of Azkaban, and I didn't like it as much. They did a great job adding sound effects in the first one, but in this one, it feels like most of the sound effects are the trio gasping, panting, moaning, sighing, and groaning as various things happen in the book. Kind of annoying rather than immersive. Hopefully the next books will be better.

I was legit concerned about people saying that Stranger Things had brought back the love triangle for season 5. I hate love triangles in general, but I always thought this one was dumb. I never bought that either of them would fight over Nancy, they barely see her as a person. Likewise, I don't know why Nancy would go for either guy in the early seasons, neither of them are worth it. There's zero chemistry here.

But honestly, season 5 turned out okay in this respect. It's like Jonathan kept trying to make the love triangle and competition a thing, but I didn't really get that vibe from Steve at all. Nancy (quite rightly) didn't give a rat's ass and ignored them both. The "competition" was 100% Jonathan's insecurity, and while the show kind of hinted at that, I'm not sure the message came through strongly enough. It was idiotic to do the triangle at all, though.

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Monday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

I saw a gif or a video once of a housecat washing a tiger. Apparently this housecat nursed the tiger as a cub, and someone commented that in cat body language, the housecat was being the dominant one and the tiger was allowing it.

This image pops into my head whenever I think of Blake Lively and Taylor Swift's relationship. I guess we all have that one longtime housecat friend that makes us forget we're tigers now.
