... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Monday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

P.S. Please don't worry if you've submitted a secret and it hasn't been posted yet. I usually post these threads before running out of the previous batch of secrets to get a head start on the next batch.

If I had to choose, and it's a topic I don't care about, I'd rather be around haters than stans.

IME haters will leave you alone and interact amongst themselves if you clearly state you couldn't give less of a shit about a topic, but stans are desperate for everybody to like their thing, take your lack of care as an insult, and try pointlessly to defend their thing from your imaginary attack of not-caring until you're sick of them.

Huh weird my experience has been that fans of a thing who just wanna enjoy something in peace will be like "okay" if you dislike it respectfully

But my experience with really passionate haters will callout. Dug up stuff harass fans and constantly talk about hating x thing like its a key component of their personality and they're PROUD of hating this thing and also try to convince the world to hate it like they do and why they're right and people who like it are wrong.

People who are chill about different disliking things are not who I think of when i think of haters though.

Man I'd love to live in your world because I have never seen this happen, haters do in fact want you to hate the thing and will invade spaces for a thing to let fans now how bad their taste is, how dumb they are, or that they've even bad people for liking the thing that they do. So no, I wouldn't rather be around haters tbh.

Like... there are people who give me a vibe (I do not believe this means they are or have ever been in a romantic or sexual relationship!), but the idea of writing stories about them squicks/creeps me out. For every pair of youtubers who are secretly dating there are going to be however many thousands of actors who are just Like That because they're theatre people! Sometimes they really are just roommates! Whether a biopic gives me the ick depends, it's a case by case thing, but like...

Man, I mean, part of it is... maybe sharing that fanfic messes things up for two people who would have gotten there on their own but started second-guessing everything, and maybe it makes them very self-conscious about sharing more about their private lives when they do! The phan tinhatters got it right but along the way a lot of them were a PROBLEM. At what cost, you know?

That said, I will always get a chuckle out of 'which could mean nothing'. I'm not writing fanfic, but I'm enjoying stray comments when I see them in that one case.

+1 and I'm someone who could not give less of a shit about what people ship when it comes to fiction. When you cross the lines into RL, though? That's when it gets weird and creepy.

I don't play Valheim as much these days, but I can't deny it's the reason I started including more turnips in my diet.

I didn't mind the Muppets Mayhem as a tv show (the human characters and predictable plot dragged it down) but the soundtrack is a bop. 10/10 recommend.

I find it a little silly to pretend that Harry Potter was a book series no one "really" liked or should want to revisit. The series was very popular, and many of us would still be into the books and fanfic were it not for JKR ruining the magic.

I'm breaking my usual protocol and commenting now because LOOK UP THERE.

There was plenty of pushback and bashing in the aughts, from "Christians" and snobs, and that didn't kill it.

Eeeehhhh...I'd already felt like I'd outgrown HP before "JKR is a TERF" became a big deal in the fandom. I mostly dragged my feet leaving the fandom because my friends were finally into HP and I was happy for my IRL friends finding joy in HP like I did.

These Olympics are the first in my lifetime that I remember hearing the athletes' political opinions.

And goddamit, can we not have ONE event where we all just non-cynically support our countries's teams and athletes in a silly competition and even - gasp - have a little national pride?!

I’ve been very sad and stressed lately due to my job. I can’t seem to do anything right and I keep blaming myself for everything that goes wrong. Then I saw a video of Mister Rogers asking, “Have you ever done anything mean to yourself?”, and it was enough for me to take a step back and realize I’ve been very unkind to myself. Work is still bad, but I feel a little less sad now.

Secret because I never really liked Mister Rogers as a kid and thought he was kinda boring. I appreciate him more as an adult.

So glad to hear you appreciating the words and wisdom of Mister Rogers. Even in adulthood, it's good to be reminded that you don't need to be mean to yourself.

It wasn't until I was an adult looking back did I realize Mister Rogers was one of the few safe spots in my life as a tiny little kid. Totally corny but I can't talk about it without choking up so I don't talk about it much.

I've been listening to the Malory Towers audiobooks to fall asleep lately and I know it's not a new discovery but it really pisses me off how much of an insufferable bully Alicia is and how even on the rare occasion the others aren't happy about her behaviour, she still never gets any lasting consequences for it.
