I get that AI is a bad thing. But I just can't bring myself to care that much. With all the genuinely evil happening, with the US turning into Nazi Germany, AI is so far down on the list of bad things happening right now.

AI is making all these bad things worse and they all feed into each other. Misinformation, political corruption, dumbing-down of the public, destabilization of the economy, surveillance state, and energy consumption.

AI was never the source of the problem. Like when AI data centers worsened the issues with nitrate pollution, and everyone said the data centers were the bad thing, not the farms that were actually causing the pollution. Or when people complain about AIs being used to make racist judgments, when they were fed data from humans who made racist judgments.

Or people complaining about the reciprocal agreements politicians are making with their cronies for the data centers? Thank you! Like AI is not inherently evil actually, it's just a tool. It can be used for a lot of good things, in addition to the bad stuff. I feel like I'm going crazy when I see how hyper-polarized people online are about like, the technology itself rather than PEOPLE using it in bad ways.

The internet is almost unusable right now. I can only find non-AI slop websites if I specify pre-2022. I can't believe wikihow has become weirdly reliable.

Ao3 is flooded with AI fic too. There are plenty of ways it's causing bullshit just on an everyday level.

I've basically given up on imgur at this point. It used to be... well, not a great place, but much better than what it is now, overrun with AI porn ads when it's not breaking every other hour.

I'm only tolerating YT because of adblockers (and everybody is fucking stupid and refuses to go anywhere else... including me).

Haven't noticed that about AO3 but then I don't read much fic these days, and when I do, it's from known authors.

This was my comment. And for the record, I do think AI is very bad. I do know that it is being used for bad things and is helping the bad people in our government.

I guess right now I'm so exhausted from all the evil, that I only have brain power to focus on so much. And right now the things literally torturing and killing people and tearing apart families are the things that have my attention. Maybe someday those things will be at least less of a daily occurrence, and then I'll have the energy to be angry about AI.
