A pair of pseudo-BNFs in the Mass Effect fandom are near-constantly posting artwork/fanfic/random squees about their versions of Commander Shepard, the game's customizable main character. The one on the right, Tobias, belongs to metaraymek; the one on the right, Freya, belongs to md_kiryu.

Way to entirely miss the point of the secret. No one has anything against people posting fanworks in a community. Constant spamming (thus, overexposure) of one thing combined with disingenuous twittering of, "you guys sick of this yet?" or "not that anyone really caaaaares, but here's more of my stuff!" is a whole other matter.

Also, your apparent belief that you can dictate what other people are or aren't sick of is cute.

Jesus christ, this. Especially metaraymek's Shepard. She makes him look all attractive in her art, but in screencaps, he's one of the most hideous male Shepards I've ever seen. No one wants to see that face all the time.

The overspamming wouldn't be quite as irritating if they were at least decent characters, or if the users in questions weren't such snobby elitist douchebags.

When md_kiryu said he wanted to someday work as an artist for BioWare, I cringed and snickered. Not with those awkward, unnatural poses and plastic Barbie smiles, buddy!

They're not my thing either, but I've learned to tune them out. I'm pretty much only in the community for news about ME3 anymore.

I dunno, I've never really understood people who get that attached to their RPG characters. I like my Sheps just fine and I put a decent amount of thought into their characterizations in-game, but I don't feel the need to share their whole life stories and detailed accounts of their sex lives with the universe. Same with my Wardens, Revans, Lone Wanderers, whatever. It feels sort of...idk, gratuitous? I'd be embarassed to do it, at any rate.

This is me. I will always have my preferences in-game of how a character acts, and I will always have certain appearances and will always have my favorite ships, but I already spend so much time plotting out my characters for original projects that fleshing out the PCs in RPGs like ME, DA, FO3, Obliviion, etc, feels more like an after-thought.
