I'm intensely fond of their relationship and I think they had a stronger bond than many of the actual romantic pairings in the series. (I mostly ship it bromance-style, but I have read my share of slashfic!) Where's that pic from, btw?

I agree completely. The tea party in the books always seemed like a nightmare to me (and not in a metaphorical sense, as in it was actually like a nightmare where you have no control over what's happening and no idea what'll happen next), and the way they played it in the movie really made it seem like some sort of eternal torment.

However, now my enjoyment of tea is going to be slightly marred. :(

Oh my god. People are seriously doing that?! I really kinda don't know what Hetalia is, exactly, at all, but just the idea is ridiculous. I get that they're not making "jokes" or acting like the whole thing is funny or something, but it's still incredibly cringey. I don't blame you at all for being upset.
