Another one of these secrets?
naisu background though

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
So you're blaming everyone else for not knowing that you have triggers that you don't tell them about and being passive-aggressively angry at them for "making you take the shame?"

I'm sorry you have triggers but what the hell is the logic in that?

"This triggers me. I'd rather not talk about why, but it does. Please don't link it to me any more."

Problem solved.

I don't think OP is blaming anyone else. Why isn't the problem solved by "I don't like this"? Her friends should have laid off then.

[identity profile] 0o0f.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay. We all have our prefferences.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, it would help if the OP informed her friends that she doesn't like something they've been reccing.

Oh anon (or not-so-anon)

While I disagree with the anger shown by the anon above, I agree with teh method they suggest. You really should just tell your friends who keep reccing you the Delinquent AU that you have very good reasons for not liking UKUS that you'd rather not talk about. It would make your life better in the long run.

I'm sorry you had to go through such things and that you are triggered.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh anon (or not-so-anon)

You know, I don't really think that it's the person you might think it is - the picture used points to one person, but I don't think she's the's the author of this secret.

Not all UKUS fanworks present England as British Empire and a rapist. And how about just saying "I just prefer USUK, thanks but no, thanks"?

(Also, I'm kinda uneasy about using this image for this secret - it's a picture that most fans of the pairing can associate with one of the writers and afaik she isn't guilty of writing super-seme!England, so I just don't get why you chose it.)

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
This. I take offence that Top!England is being equalled with rape. I can point several sweet, loving, caring Top!England stories.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
How is the pic related? :/

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
One of the writers for the pairing has such icon. But she's not the one who wrote the Delinquent AU mentioned in the secret, so... it kinda makes no sense??

[identity profile] tamabonotchi.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
What's going on here?

OP, just say you don't like the rec because it's uncomfortable for you and you just want USUK.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
wow, is it so hard to just say that you are uncomfortable with the subject matter and ask people to stop reccing it to you? they can't read your mind. if you don't say anything, they won't know. you don't have to go into details; a simple heads up would suffice.

ffs.

op

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I apologize for the picture I didn't mean to target that specific author I just found her to be the most prolific who writes well written UKUS to prove that it doesn't matter how non-damaging they write him now it's not like I want to think of him that way it just happens and I've tried multiple times to get over it but it does not work. I regret using the picture now I didn't mean to target anyone so I apologize for that.

Re: op

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, she also writes USUK. In fact, most of her works are USUK.

Which author is this supposed to be? I didn't get the Cardcaptor Sakura thing either. And I like UKUS so I'm all about finding authors.

OP, just be upfront. You're asking anonymously not to be linked to things? That makes no sense.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-26 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
As for the image:

As for the UKUS:

[identity profile] llrael.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no opinions on the shipping front but good gods do I detest all these "USUK" and "UKUS" being thrown about, especially since no-one seems to be able to agree on whether he's England or Britain or the UK and this gives me massive GEOGRAPHY RAAAAAAAAGE.

Also seconding everyone who has said, "TELL SOMEONE.". People aren't psychic, they can't just sense what makes you upset through a computer.

[identity profile] lovelycudy.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
He's England. I feel your geography rage anon (which adds to history rage because, hello, no United Kingdom until the 18th century and Britain is not a nation or a political entity)

Ah, I'm sorry, OP. I certainly don't want you to read that story if it triggers you.

I do agree that telling people not to recommend it to you would be the best thing to do. You don't even have to say why.

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I'm not into EnglandxAmerica simply because I prefer the opposite setup. So what. If you don't like something for whatever reason then you don't like it, I see no reason to "suck it up" and pretend to like it just because you're worried about how you may come across to others. If people reccing EnglandxAmerica stuff bothers you tell them not to rec them to you because you don't like it, end of story.

Kinda OT, but while I know that the usual "British Empire" characterization (ie. rapist/crazy/creepily possessive/etc. England) is just a kink more often than not, it really irks me when people start trying to justify it saying that it's "historical" and that England is "too strong to be uke". :/ And now I stop before I launch into my usual, boring rant...

Ummm, how does the rec triggered you? Furthermore, AFAIK, the fic itself is properly labelled so you can always not read it. Just say that you don't like Top!England and that's it.

BTW, we don't need any historical reason to like Top!England because for 90% of us sexual position is not biggie. But UKe is horridly OOC every time.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It triggers me too, but for different reasons. I wish it were something I were comfortable discussing. Most of my friends know I don't like the pairing though, and they're gracious enough to not force it upon me.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, sorry to the OP, but where in the heck are these Super-Seme/British-Empire-England stories that are purportedly dominant in UK/US fic? People discuss them but I think they're mythical, because I just don't see them in the fandom. I'd be interested to be truthful.

I can only think of two that approach it, and neither of them were written by the authors you are pointing at. The ones Ive seen of British Empire England have America begging for it.
