Whenever I find out someone went through something big like that, I wonder if they were any different before, if it shaped their personalities in any way. Don't know if that's at all what you're talking about, but I get that it can change how you think about someone.

You do know that she only had the abortion because she had no other options, right? She would have gone through it if someone in her family had adopted the baby since she wanted to still be a part of the kid's life. *reads the blogs Lindsay makes very public*

There are plenty of people who now look down on her or just go "lolslut" and it's really tragic because her documentary made me respect her more. I've talked with someone who saw it and while it starts off silly and fact based it also is serious and talks about the emotions and thinking that goes into a choice like that.

The fact that she is still making videos for her fans without letting their "moral superiority" pull her down is awesome and feeling like you can't be a fan of hers because of a personal choice she made kind of makes you look like a dick.

Are you referring to pro-choice people who wouldn't have an abortion themselves, because I think that's a lot more admirable. In that case it's going beyond what is best for you personally.

It's easy for a poor man to say the rich should be taxed more for the good of the poor, it's a lot harder for a rich man to say.

I don't get the controversy here. You can be pro-choice and anti-abortion at the same time, last I checked, supporting the option is not the same as supporting the act.

I don't know much about the situation, but to be honest, I don't see how I could gain respect for her. It's her decision, and hopefully she made the right one, but the "question" is always whether the woman makes the right decision for her and the child or just her. Personally, I think I have the most respect for people who say out of those circumstances altogether. It's not like it's impossible.

for the record, the doc she made wasn't about her political opinions on abortion- it was about the actual psychological effects that abortion has on the women who have them and their families

I'm fairly sure most people who are talking about having more respect for her are talking about her courage in making the doc and talking frankly about her experience, not like, "woo, we fucking hate babies!"

I've always respected her, but I love her even more for being able to still keep her dark humor about it. Not many could probably make "why not just push her [a pregnant character] down the stairs and hope for the best?" jokes after that.
