Srsly. I have no opinion on any of these people (except for Sara Rees Brennan, who is a friend of a friend and seems cool), but there is certainly enough information out there to have an opinion about them without resorting to knee-jerk fat jokes.

because it's more than the plagarism.

it's about a whole culture of fandom that rose up to her defense and acted like entitled cuntwaffles towards OTHER PEOPLE.

if you want to talk about how it's not important, then lets discuss the fact that she and her posse were horrible human beings to other human beings OVER SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT IMPORTANT.

which speaks volumes about her that she's never even come forward to acknowledge any of it. she let other people fight her battles, she let other people act like disguisting pieces of shit in HER NAME while she sat there all smug that she didn't have to lift a finger to do anything.

just set her dogs after anyone who raised their finger in her direction.

so fuck her, fuck you.

she's a fat disgusting pig who's just a waste of human space and air.

Re: Kind of OT but...

Agreed.

If you like the film, you should definitely read the novel, it's even better than the movie!

[identity profile] add-jul.livejournal.com 2011-09-13 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
That's awesome!

(Anonymous) 2011-09-13 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, you made this Anon happy- when I watched DH for the first time, I was all like "Since when does Lucius have a brother? Wait, that's Xeno Lovegood...!?"
Than I started to feel a little paranoid, since no one else seemed to see it.

But since I'm a dirty-minded slash-fangirl, I can't decide- do I like them better as being related or... do I ship them? I mean there's so much potential- Lucius being the "aristocrat", all narrow-minded about his "pureblood"-blahblah... and then there is Xeno with his "hippie"-attitude...

Who wouldn't want to do rugged sexy bottle blondes?

[identity profile] cinnamonlace.livejournal.com 2011-09-13 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so sorry but I keep imagining it doing the Tarzan yell.

Anon I wish I could hug you right now.

(Anonymous) 2011-09-13 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry but anyone can tell you're new when you still think the use of "fail" is still acceptable.

I'm seriously into black metal, among other metal genres, and I've always felt a bit awkward about my love for folk etc. But actually after I started to admit it (to both sides) I've never had more than people asking me why, and people have never had problems with the answers.

Hey, at least it's not nu-metal or something-core...

All hail Queen Nibbles!

(Anonymous) 2011-09-13 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait. What? People use this argument in Mass Effect fandom? Where? When?

Re: NF

(Anonymous) 2011-09-13 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
unless two people have the same argument, then the troll with a sock-puppet will claim all anon are the same anon.

(Anonymous) 2011-09-13 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Me, I'm surprised by the lack of Game of Thrones + The Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Heads Will Roll". Get on it, fandom!

(Anonymous) 2011-09-13 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only read the first book and seen the show, but I think the show toned down how unlikeable she is in the early parts of the first book. When she does become more sympathetic she's great, and she's actually one of my favorites at the moment, but her early chapters in aGoT make her pretty unbearable.

OP, as someone who lives part-time between Japan, Hong Kong and US, I have to tell you that if you're a foreigner, you'll never be 100% accepted no matter where you are in the world.

Granted, the people who are protesting are just a small group of extreme-right-wingists (like the American Tea Party,) or internet trolls. They are not the majority. Since I'm Chinese and I work for a Japanese company with a branch in the US, I face racism and sexism whenever I go to work in Japan. At the same time, while I know Chinese, and grew up mostly in HK, whenever I get send to HK/China/Taiwan for work, I'm seen as a foreigner because of my native-level English. At the same time, when I'm in America and working with potential US companies, I'm seen as a foreigner and they tend to act hesitant around me even though I'm American.

The people who posts these news on the internet in English are mostly trolls too, so you don't need to pay them any mind. My Japanese friends all love Kara and SNSD. Japanese companies recognize that if they don't try to work on an international level, they're going to get out competed by other countries. In this era of internationalization, it would be foolish of them to not accept foreign culture (which they've done since the beginning of Japanese history.)

If all of this is true then you guys - everyone involved - spend way too much time on the Internet.

(Anonymous) 2011-09-14 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I get what you are saying, and definitely agree with several people above about the strange proliferation of romance mary sue fics in slasher fandoms, and nobody likes a bad mary sue fic regardless of the fandom.

On the other hand, a lot of people write fanfic to explore a side of a story not already explored in canon. That's why you have WAFF stories written in a fandom where the canon is dark and gritty, and also why you have darkfics written about My Little Pony.

I'm not familiar with anything past the first book, but it seems to me that people forget that Sansa is only a young girl. She's what, ten in the book? She might remain naive and disconnected from reality for the rest of the series, for all I know, but right now I view her actions through the lens of her being young and overly idealistic.

As far as her becoming a leader, I can see her becoming like Cersei later on, figuring out how to use her sex to get into a position of power.

(Anonymous) 2011-09-14 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck. Yes. This this this.

[identity profile] elspethdixon.livejournal.com 2011-09-14 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Also long plotty fics... that sometimes usually contain porn.

(Anonymous) 2011-09-14 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I love it how you ignore my whole comment and only focus on one word.
>Someone is butthurt.

One of the great moments in me and my sister's life was discovering that the girl who'd harassed both of us on the school bus as well as most of the other girls on our bus route (she once physically threw me down the steps of the bus and onto the pavement, used to pour water in people's bookbags to damage their textbooks/homework, spread rumors that another girl had herpes, etc.) had been fired from a local exotic dancing establishment for being too fat.

I know that makes us petty, terrible people, but I can't quash the mean-spirited glee I feel whenever I think about it.
