Y'know, I find the villains like Mother Gothel or Frollo much scarier than the ones like Ursula or Maleficent. People like Frollo or Gothel exist in real life. But you're not going to see a half-octopus woman roaming down the street any time soon.

Oh, agreed on the Mother Gothel and Frollo account. That's why Gaston also scares me, I mean, he's extremely over the top, but also recognizable in his over the top-ness. ::shudders::

Ugh, Gaston! Yeah, I agree. I've met creeps like him in real life. Characters like that hit much closer to home. Although dragon Maleficent scared the piss outta me when I was seven. The others got scarier when I got older and understood them better. Frollo... *shudder*

My favorite Disney song/villain song is definitely the deleted Snuff Out The Light from Emperor's New Groove. Because holy shit that salsa beat, those lyrics.

really? I actually found maleficent rather terrifying because she had nothing to gain from trying to murder aurora. every other disney villain has something to gain from their evildoing. she was just being malicious for no real reason. that's what made her scary to me.

I was kidding about Darla. :) Her presentation is alarming but she's not exactly 'villainous'.

I'm of the opinion that those who exploit are pretty scary (Mr. Waternoose, Clayton, McLeach, Madame Medusa, Sykes, Monsieur D'aquire, Rourke, Frollo, and THAT FUCKING COACHMAN IN PINNOCHIO), but the scariest, and most effective villains are the ones you don't even get to see.

So probably Man from Bambi.

Eh, if you want to compare Disney to Valve in terms of character-building or witty reparte, of course Valve is going to win. That's why I made the comparison the way I did- not establishing preference one way or the other, but to establish that they're both female, near-omnipotent homicidal maniacs whose goal is to murder another female for no reason other than that they find their existence a threat.
