Same here. Hard to choose between them, or other adaptations, because I like and watch them for nearly different reasons. One's like a fun contemporary au that watches like a sweet little fanfic, and the other is basically a comic book movie.

If this is an issue of which one its closer to the source material though, I'd rather just read the books.

Well, no, I already said upthread that I should have said "regular warning" instead of TW. That was my fault. I agree that the concept of TW has been watered down in fandom, but it's still a good idea to warn for content. I don't think that, say, talking about drug use is triggering for anyone, bit I still think it's something that should be warned for. I wouldn't use a TW though.

Why so much offensive language?

[identity profile] nomorenoodles.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, I felt she lost it crying more because that choice was taken away from her than because she actually wanted kids.

YES I came here to say exactly this. You are awesome.

It was really interesting to see a character who didn't really want kids have that happen to them. If it had happened to Lily it would just be another cliched oh-woman-wants-babies-but-she-can't-have-them. I know Robin was upset but I don't think it's because she wanted kids; if she really wanted them she wouldn't let being unable to have them biologically stop her.

Really! I really need to read the books again, I am a sucker for these kinds of plots, which is why i am currently reading Janet Evanovich's books, we have an expression in Norwegian "housewife porn" which that basically is, without the porn. It's glorious!

and if you where wondering yes I do love bad fiction! :P

[identity profile] kayfig.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god, so good!

[identity profile] rabidsamfan.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, hell yes!

And now I want the poster without the secret on it! *oh, goooogle! are you listening?*

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
OP, is that you? Easy on the self loathing.

[identity profile] kayfig.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Will Smith as Watson sounds amazing.

[identity profile] atelierlune.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but I could also see that starting a lot of wank too.
ext_396211: Fucking Gallaghers (Martha Jones)

[identity profile] sensualcoco.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha yes. A little dog in outfits occupies my mind half of the time when I try to visualize classic lit. The other half it's The Doctor.

[identity profile] loracarol.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. ♥

[identity profile] nomorenoodles.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I love how everyone's being so supportive. Best of luck, OP. :)

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
06 is a repeat

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
DA. Yes, that was my issue with your first comment.

But... if abortion is, as you say, not a common trigger, should it be warned for? How about gore or violence? Why not things like death in general, illness in general, *isms in general, and so forth? Should religion be warned for? They are all sensitive topics.

Warnings for "controversial material" on this comm would mean a warning on everything. :\

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Sad but true. But I've become jaded after seeing some pretty meh things put on a pedestal simply because of yaoi.

I've never given this series a shot, methinks I'll be changing that. I'm not all that interested in the romantic side of characters so much, but women kicking ass? I'LL BE TAKING THAT~

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
why

[identity profile] angryscientist.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Came here to say the same thing, so thanks.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
haha, I loled xD

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Even if they did remake it, I still wouldn't rewatch it. Not my cuppa tea.

[identity profile] cloud-riven.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It still bugs me that sure was completely redesigned. I don't need Kris' to be able to enjoy the game, there's not much to like about a silent protagonist here, imo, but all the remake's characters at least look like their original counterparts. I was just hoping her design would follow the same pattern (updated sporty clothes, expression, pose, etc.).

[identity profile] fauxkaren.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Like, RDJ and Benedict Cumberbatch, I'm really happy for you and I'm gonna let you finish. But Basil is the greatest Sherlock of all time.

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah what's closer to the books doesn't really bother me because....I have the books. :P Which I am finally reading. I don't think an adaptation, whether it's a character-driven drama or an action packed buddy movie, has to follow the source material exactly to be good - as long as it's entertaining in it's own right and still has the same point as the original.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-15 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
A shocking number of people believe this.

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2012-01-15 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
...The outfit kind of reminds me of a Delsaber from Phantasy Star Online.

Granted, I'd think that was cool. Not sexy, but cool.
