Man, there must be a MASSIVE generation gap. I'm 17, been with anime+manga for a good ten years myself; I'm not ashamed in the slightest to tell people I read manga. Plenty of people I know from high school aren't in the slightest a 'loser geek otaku', people who are outright party animals and they read manga and watch anime and aren't ashamed or teased/looked down beyond an 'oh, that's odd' reaction. Times are changing! Don't be ashamed at all.

Spoilers for The Great Game, just in case.

He wears a lot of jumpers and cardigans that make him look rather like a cream puff, but he's really quite thin. Try The Great Game, at the pool, after Sherlock's ripped that coat off of him and he sort of stumbles against the cabin — you can see it quite clearly then.

And yet, you could ignore their negativity, all the same.
I do for plenty of well-hated fandoms I enjoy or participate in.

Negativity is not an unquestionable "bad."
You can have just as much fun in hating something, as you can in enjoying it.
It doesn't make you any better than the "haters" to do the latter, so feel free to climb down from your high horse any time.

Yeeeeeeeeah... I hope the whole show isn't like this. It's not funny and it's actually kinda creepy. I thought Lola liked Bugs, yet she's going all psycho jealous because Daffy is out on a date. She claims later she's trying to get her boyfriend, Daffy, back to Bugs who then replies that he's her boyfriend. She has it tape recorded and plays it as proof. It'd be fine if it was funny, but it's just plain crazy. Not over the top OMG that's impossible it's soooo crazy that it makes it funny like cartoons, especially Looney Toons are. I love Kristen Wigg, but it's just not working for me. Part of the reason why she's funny is her facial expressions. It just doesn't transfer well voicing Lola. The 9 year old me would've thought this was crap and switched the channel back to Tiny Toons.

I actually tried really hard to get into it because of the female assassins and yuri factor. But I just couldn't finish it because it was boring and felt very empty, like style over substance. If they were men, I would still feel the same. Sorry. Not all yaoi fans will indiscriminately ship every pairing.
Also, in my experience, even with yaoi fandom, if something is very boring the popularity and activity of the fandom will only last so long.

I love his crazy movies as well. I though Drive Angry was hilarious and I can watch Con Air a million times.

I think the show would've been better if it wasn't associated with The Looney Tunes. The main reason I don't care for it is because none of the Looney Tunes characters act like themselves. They've been updated to almost be unrecognizable in way of personality. The sitcom format they've got going on isn't working for me. I'm expecting them to do wacky and crazy things like in the old show, but they don't. It's relatively normal "Friends" antics. Maybe I do have nostalgia glasses, but if you're going to reboot a show then perhaps making it similar to its predecessor would be a good option. Otherwise they should've just made completely new character designs.

FTR I'm not crazy about either Lola, old or new. The Space Jam Lola was like a poor man's Jessica Rabbit and she was there to fill in the female quota for the movie. Plus to create a new character for WB to sell merch of. New Lola is a manipulative psycho creeper that I personally don't find very funny. If anything she makes me feel awkward and embarrassed for Bugs.

You're one of those people who believe in no secrets in a relationship, and absolute honesty?

Lol, best of luck with that, I'm sure it's going to work out just fine.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
I got the feeling they were hinting that Porky was in the closet and has a thing for Daffy.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
Same. I thought the TV PG rating was because it'd go back to trying to kill each other, but no, it's for the use of more mature themes...

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
Soooooo, in that entire clip nothing remotely violent happened. Not one wacky expression. Not one iconic sound effect. Not one cartoon gag. Just... talking... That has got to be the most boring fucking Looney Tunes clip I have ever seen...

How is wishing the OP luck at all putting them on a pedestal? :/

[identity profile] skinst-bomb.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
Be confident in your desision and that's all that matters. :) Good luck and I hope things work out better for you in the future.

Sorry if assuming there is a chance you understood biologically offends you, but rather that than really trigger someone who is hurting. If those are the stakes, then yeah.

Except the breasts and asses aren't in your face in Noir. There's a difference between women who happen to be wearing short skirts and actual jiggle TV, but go on, keep telling yourself you're not being a sexist shit.

Aren't you special.

Why yes, fyi, thinking you have any say over what goes on with my uterus is a dealbreaker. You and your ilk are scum and I want nothing to do with you.

Most women who have abortions aren't anywhere close to drowning in depression afterwards like the anti-choice want to pretend. Majority=not what you think.

Chemo causes the death of tumor cells, sugar, and antibiotics kill bacteria. Quit talking out of your ass.

In which category would you put Wild At Heart? I really loved him in that.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
be madder it's really funny

No shit, Holmes. Glad you can do your homework. But a foetus? Still nothing like an appendix. An uneducated dunce is the only kind of person who would ever make that comparison. Anybody who associates a foetus with an organ needs psychological help.

I think by "something" she means something with its own set of DNA, etc. It's entirely different from just ~cancer cells~, stop being so dense. Christ, I swear abortion turns everyone into a raving imbecile.

Sometimes it's cathartic to bash something when you love it and then it starts to really, really suck.

Yes, let's flash back to that thing that happened five minutes ago.
