As someone who is religious I feel deeply disturbed and offended. Those are faith songs, devotional songs, and you're defiling their meaning to write amoral porn? Ugh.

Just the fact that you publicly posted this is disrespectful to all those who are religious. You couldn't have kept this to yourself? Seriously? Ugh. I seriously regret reading this.

Not cool, man.

(eta: the first word of my captcha is "Moses". wow.)

You couldn't have kept this to yourself?

I think you have missed the point of fandom secrets, my friend

I try!

I always loved your icon, btw. HSR is pretty much my childhood.

+1

it's like, do you what you want to do in private. it's fucked up, but whatthefuckever. it's not like anyone can stop you. i hate that the op posted this though. there was no reason to unless it's just to piss of those who are religious.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-27 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
There is no real reason to post ANY of these posts. They're, ya know, SECRETS that people want to anonymously throw in the open.

da

point?

Hmm, interesting take. I am also a person of faith and while I found this secret to be honestly rather weird, I didn't find it "offensive", exactly. They aren't hurting anyone by listening to music and using it however they want. It doesn't change what the music means to me or why I listen to it, after all.

I'd be lying if I said I never associated music with ideas and imagery very different form what the artist intended. There are even a few secular songs that have a lot of meaning to me with regards to my faith just because of how I interpreted them.

I'd be more offended if the secret writer were attacking religion or people of faith, but they're just sharing something about their writing habits. Weird and perhaps somewhat squicky? Sure. Offensive? idk about that.

(also, how do you know OP is male?)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-26 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt.

i'm also a person of faith, and i was kind of offended by this secret myself. it's mainly because i listen to/write a lot of christian music and perform for my church, so christian music, to me, moves me in a way sometimes reading from scripture doesn't. it's really personal to me (and those i sing with), so hearing about someone tainting it this way feels really wrong.

i know that some people interpret christian music in non-religious ways, and i'm okay with that. but what the op's saying is horrible. she's using words of worship and devotion and love to portray *rape* and *abusive relationships* and that disgusts me. sorry.

op can do whatever he/she wants, but i still think it's wrong. i'm not going to dwell on this, but like the ayrt said, i wish i hadn't read it.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-26 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt either.

Nobody is tainting the actual music though. The music does not change. OP's not actually using the words to portray those terrible things, the words are inspiring OP to write about them. That's not the same thing at all.

This. I too consider myself a person of faith, and I frequently listen to "religious" songs as well as secular ones. And I'll admit that I've been able to interpret plenty of crossover myself.
But, yes, the OP's secret creeps me out(maybe as far as disturbed) and IS squicky, but, whatever. I'm not gonna tell OP they can't post a secret about something just because it makes me uneasy.

TBH, I'm more likely to be offended by some of the comments that are sure to come on this thread hating on religion/religious music.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-27 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this.

It's squicky as all fuck, but I won't tell the OP they shouldn't have posted it, either. I mean, I'd rather not have known, really, but eh. It's the Internet. You come across all kinds of things. Best to just forget about it.

This. NGL that I find that disturbing, but it's not hurting anything, and this is far from the worst secret we've had on this comm, so it's whatever. No reason to attack OP.

Ehm, this is Fandom Secrets. There is bound to be offensive stuff in here. Hell, I think that pretty much every night at least one group is being offended on here.

There's some denomination of Christianity that says the women should imagine they're having sex with Jesus when they have sex. No joke.

"Amoral porn?"

Kink shaming is also not cool, man.
