I am totally with you OP. I've been wanting to be Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer since I first saw him. Gender swap included.

I love Tony(both in comics and movies) but why would you want to be him?

Good looking, rich, powerful, genius, superhero. I can see a lot of reasons OP might want to be him.

hmm you know that's just a part of him.

Tony Stark hates himself, he is an alcoholic,tried to kill himself with alcohol(even tho he pulled himself later). he is depressed all the time. he is a fucked up character that's why I love him and find him interesting but I'd never want to be him

Okay, unless I'm forgetting something the reactor doesn't give him any superpowers it just keeps his heart from getting shredded up by the shrapnel. Unless you're just talking about the sexiness of the reactor, then yes, yes, I agree.

Not OP but I want to be him because he can make wonderful things into a reality. I know he has his flaws but I guess this is a personal thing.

I agree with this. I'd want to be able to build anything I imagine! He has the brains and the resources.

The guilt-ridden, broken guy whose life is basically one big conga line of stress, shame, death, misery and trauma? Hell no.

I don't think I'd either want to be him or be with him. He's too selfish for either. He's attractive, certainly, and he'd be fun for possibly a one night stand. But he's not exactly great relationship material. And while being him might be fun for a while, the combination of his arrogance and self-loathing are not traits I'd want for the long-haul.

Uh, y'know, there's this thing called "character development" that you may have heard of, or seen in action regarding this very character...

On the other hand, all the shit that has happened to him and the resulting trauma are not things I would want kicking around in my memory either *shivers*

I'd like to have his mind and his body. I could do without all his issues.

Yup. It's funny how everyone on this thread is like "why would you want to be him? He has so many issues!" never stopping to think that there are some people with such horrible issues that they would much rather have his issues than their own.

Nonnie, I know what you mean! I'm a cis-ish female and want to be male characters a lot, since I was little! They seem to so much of the time, get more interesting/complicated inner lives as well as accomplishments, in fiction. I let their swagger influence how I go through life, it's a lot of fun :D

Ditto! Not only have I wanted to be Tony Stark, but tons of other male characters as well. It's just a fun thing to fantasize about. And the swagger; that so much. Most of the guys I'd want to be have all got that indefinable swagger, and having it can really boost your self esteem. Or, at least, for me, it did.

I know what you mean anon but... well, in my reading Tony Stark is fairly self loathing/self esteem and self worth issues so I imagine as soon as you were him, you'd still want to be someone else. LOL?
