In an interesting bit of trivia, though, the movies did leave out Elrond's twin sons (Arwen's older brothers), Elladan and Elrohir. They weren't present at the battle of Helm's Deep, but did participate in the the battle of Pelennor Fields in Gondor (and accompanied Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn and co. during the Path of the Dead bits, if I remember correctly). So, technically, Legolas wasn't the only elf that fought in some of the later main battles.
