One person's deeply significant cultural icon is another's fashion statement, wall hanging, or museum piece. Probably because I'm happily godless, I don't see the point in giving anyone's religious symbol automatic respect. But I suppose it fits in with the complaints people have about others "stealing" their culture. Like how dare I play a traditional Japanese instrument when I'm not Japanese.

If we are to have freedom, then people do what they want. Trying to point anything not universal into the category of sacred and untouchable assumes that everyone should have to think of it the same as you do.

2. TURK LOVE. ♥ Honestly, I hate that most of the fangirls more or less toss Tseng, Rude and Elena out the window, and just throw Reno and Rufus in a room to fuck. (This from a die-hard Tseng/Rufus shipper, of course, but don't mind.) Reno isn't a Turk without the Turks. They come as a unit, thx.

Would you have preferred I throw in all the manga aisle stereotypes? Fatties, asians, nerdy stick people (apparently you), stinky otaku (see: fatties or those people wearing Fruits Basket/InuYasha/Evangelion/Rurouni Kenshin anime shirts), normal looking people with weeaboo mouth diarrhea, more asians, a gaggle of tittering fangirls (habitat: yaoi section), and the rare breed: cool people who know what they fucking want, pick it out, and either find an empty chair to plant their butt in or bring it to the goddamn register and BUY IT.

2 - Whoo! I love Death, but - as clearly Pterry implies - I love the living characters more, because Death's function in Discworld is to be a foil to the living. The ambivalence you feel is, IMO, exactly what the author hoped readers would feel. Your reading comprehension is WAY HIGH!

8 - I understand, but relax. No matter how amazing a writer can be, s/he's a person first and foremost. Go with the flow, if the author you love is annoyed at you - which I'd never believe in a million years because, y'know? it's a buzz to be loved - s/he will tell you. I bet s/he utterly adores you.

18 - Well, you are a bit of hypocrite, yes, but not THAT much of one. Depends on your age and life experiences and manga (and anime) no matter how porn they pretend to be, are to rarefied to express real flesh and blood. You like the idea of the thing, but not any of the reality behind it. I'd say, ask your friends if any of them is bi or gay in real life, and proceed according to the answer you get. You may be surprised at how understanding bi or gay people are in RL. :-D

22 - Luv, people like you tend to be a pain in the derriere, pardon my French. If you don't want concrit, write it clear and bolded in your summary or author notes: "No concrit, no negative reviews, please". It'll still make you look like an immature person, but there's nothing wrong with being immature if your inner and ever-winning child is five. Or, of course, if you're twelve or something like that. People will never post concrit to your fics after that. Alright, some may flame, but the majority will simply not read the fic and go on with their life. Everyone's happy. All was well.

#3 - DISCWOOOOOOORLD! Death rocks! I kinda hope the Grim Reaper actually is like that. Would certainly beat the giant green homicidal bunny from the webcomic Jack, and the perky goth chick from the published comic book Sandman is cool to read about but would irritate me if I met her.

I have to make sure I comment on Discworld stuff at least as much as I do on Redwall stuff now, so I don't become known as "that crazy furry kid" or something ... trouble is I can remember all the little details with Redwall because I've been reading it for so many more years and with Discworld I'm terrified that I'll get a detail wrong if I comment on it, or worse if I try to write fic about it ... and I don't dare even look at non-recced Discfic anymore, which doesn't help ...
