He's in, what, maybe three episodes during seven seasons, so if you've seen the intro there's not much left. I'd say it's not worth it to start watching the series just for him.

Their Deaths are much more realistic -in my opinion-; in the way that they are not vengeful, they are only performing a necessary duty (I say this having watch only the intro of SPN's Death, nothing more).

The fandom has it's crazy people but overall I always found Supernatural to be a nice fandom, of course I mostly run around with the rare shippers so yeah^^

But as said before Death isn't in enough episode to warrant watching the show just for him. But by all means watch the eps he's in and if you like it you can always start watching more (that's how I got into Doctor Who^^)

Saying this as a fan of Supernatural...

if you're only into the character Death, I'd suggest only watching his episodes because he's awesome, but there's so little of him in the series as a whole.

The Supernatural fandom can be a weird/scary/wonderful place.

Yeah, like others have said, Death's only in 3 episodes, the first of which is at the end of S5, so if he's the only reason you want to watch, you'll be disappointed. 5x21, 6x11, and 7x01 if you just want to check out his episodes! He's definitely worth it <3

That said, if you're interested in any the other stuff at all, I say give it a try! The fandom's not nearly as scary as people make out, probably one of the most fun I've ever been in. It's big, so you can generally find a little bit of everything, even if the main two ships tend to dominate (for what it's worth I've read some great DeathxGod fic, even if I can't quite remember where). My main advice would be avoid anonmemes and spn_gossip etc., and otherwise you should be fine.

Why can't you watch just his episodes if you're only interested in him? As someone who used to love this show more than all other tv shows, I don't think watching seven seasons is worth it when you're only really interested in a couple of episodes.

If you're only in it for Death (who is awesome, I admit), it may not be worth it to watch all 7 seasons, since he's in just 3 episodes. The fandom, however, is not that bad. There are, of course, the extremists, as there are in EVERY fandom. Supernatural is huge, though, so it's obvious there will be more of them. And there are a lot of pairings, not just incest. Dean/Castiel, for one, is the most popular other than Sam/Dean. It's merely a matter of finding a corner of fandom you're comfortable in. I've been in it for years and have only met a handful of fans I probably wouldn't ever want to associate with again. Meanwhile, some of my closest fandom friends are sweet, down-to-earth people. :)

So for the hundredth time, Death's not in the series enough to watch just him. However, I will say that there are fabulous BAMFs (although for the most part actually villainous) just like him in the series. The main antagonist for the first two seasons is one of the best. I'll say this as a person who adores Sam, Dean, and Cas. The side characters are the best part of the show. For the most part, the side characters are the most vividly characterized. They're actual personalities, and you even get the sense that they are not just there to react off the main characters. Like they have actual shit going on elsewhere. So, if you just like his perfect characterization, I will say that there's more of that in the show.

There are general comms, and they keep wank locked down. The kink meme is light on wank, but the prompts are all over the scale. I personally recommend spn_party (on lj). It's pretty chill, although it is filled with veterans of the show and their strong opinions. Just ask someone in a general comm what to stay away from (like spn_gossip (on lj); just stay away).

IA that there should be more fic about him, omg. He's great. And for the record, I got into SPN fandom super-late, and I love it, craziness and all. It's really fun and silly and people are really awesome and creative; the scary ones are the minority. But even those people are pretty damn entertaining. Then again, my entire personality is basically a popcorn gif and I love watching the madness; everyone else might not feel that way. But I say jump in! Show's not what it used to be, but it's still fun, and gr8 for marathoning.

(I got into the show because of Lucifer/Mark Pellegrino. I was like "oh, I like this dude! But I'll just watch his eps and then peace out because this fandom is weird and I don't think I..." Cut to me a few months later hauling ass to Parsippany for the convention. *sigh*)

Adding my voice to the millions telling you not to watch everything just for Death. Watch everything for Crowley and Azazel and Ruby and Bela and John and Bobby and Garth and Anna and Gabriel and Uriel and Ellen and Jo and Mary and Lucifer and Balthazar and Lilith and Alistair and Meg and Chuck and Tessa and Lisa and Ben and Jodie. Watch it because it's an amazing show, regardless of the fandom. If you want a good taste of how the later seasons are, start with the S5 or the S4 premiere; S1 starts out boring but it ramps up nicely. S2 has a lot of brotherly bonding(no, the incest isn't canon; you have nothing to worry about), and S3 has plenty of angst. S4 is possibly the best of the show. Give it a spin. If you live in the US, it's on Netflix, and TNT airs reruns every day at nine am.

And if you DO decide that you want to try out fandom, we're always welcome to have you over at spn_party. We try to keep it semi-sane. Or, at least buckets saner than spng.

I used to think the fandom was crazy/creepy, too, but I've met a great many awesome people and quality writers through it since! And at least half the fandom ships the non-incestuous couple anyway. ;) It only so happens that the crazy fans (I mean by behaviour, not ships) are the loudest. The majority seem really decent. I'd recommend staying away from the kink memes, though, unless you enjoy mpreg and underage rape fic. (There's definitely more mpreg than in any other fandom I've been in to date, but it's not hard to avoid reading it.)

Death is made of awesome, but there are lots of others who are also worth watching for. Also, not all of us are screaming, teenagers, or into incest shipping; there's people of all ages with all kinds of interests and fannish preferences. You just have to look around a bit and figure out which corner of the fandom you'd fit into best. :)

As a huge fan of Show, i will of course say 'yes! watch it!!' It's super-easy to avoid the things you don't like, and there is a niche of the fandom for pretty much everyone and everything.
