17. It=up, right? Some booboos there, but I guess it's a secret, so whatever. All I can say is do what you think "feels" best. It's just fanfic. I don't think anyone would care too much.

[identity profile] ironjill.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
18. Fuck. Yes.

It took me a while to figure it out, but then I frowned slightly. I think it's kind of cool, personally, but to each their own.

But the reason I'm really replying is because of the Anonymous that said they got over 100 applications. I lol'd.
Number of applications...means that people want to play there? How many of them got accepted? I don't know what point you were trying to prove, but number of applications =/= great roleplay.

I would prove that point with one in particular that I saw D: But then some people would hate me. ):

(Not the original anon you're responding to.)

(Anonymous) 2007-07-30 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
And if people want to play there, doesn't it follow that the RP itself has at least made itself look interesting enough in order to draw so much attention? I think the original anon meant that the RP was good enough to get 100 applications, not that the RP is good because they accepted 100 applications. And you're right, I don't think they did accept all of them anyway. XD

1. I don't write for the fandom, but I know a lot of the writers. It isn't as elitist as you think. They'll read anything (and I mean anything, B'Gamman/Penelo, anyone?) as long as it is well-written and grammatically correct. Go for it! Some of the fandom ideas are kinda stale anyway.

Tales secrets! Two of them! *_*

[identity profile] la-vamp.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
13. I feel the same way. It irritates me every time a creator says he hates his fanbase or part of his fanbase. Even if I'm not part of the fanbase, I can't help but be angry.

16. I've always shipped het pairings. I've tried yaoi and yuri, but I don't get anything out of either genre. I don't have anything against people that ship homosexual pairings at all though. It actually angers me when people wail about how gross yaoi and yuri are. I especially hate fandoms where people have a "Het is gross!" mentality though, because seriously, that's taking your kink to extremes. Ship BDSM or else bitches! Fluff and marriage are for sissies!

19. Alan Rickman is the hottest old man ever. Am I the only one going to see Sweeney Todd for him instead of Johnny Depp?

[identity profile] quaedam.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Argh. Not my fandom, but I still know what you mean--it sucks when that happens--even if the whole fandom has a relatively believable collective take on the characters.

6. *salutes*

13. I've never had that problem in *fandom* before, but. . .yeah. (Last time I went to a Gauguin exhibit, it was seriously difficult to appreciate anything about the paintings over the chorus of 'YOU SEXIST RACIST (pedo) SOB' in the back of my head. Of course, in that case there really was no separating the assholish views of the painter from the paintings themselves (all those paintings of his abandoned 12 year old mistress. . .GAH).)

Were you thinking of a specific series/book/show/something for this secret?

14. I dunno. Ukitake isn't a *completely* practical person, after all--he's one of the more ethical/conscientious people in Soul Society, which is in itself not practical. And add to that the hanging out with his hippy friend Shunsui and all the Sticking It To The Man (or Yamamoto, at least) in the SS arc. . .oh, I couldn't call him completely practical at all. ^^ (And I kinda like the over-the-top 'bishie' long hair taken together with Ukitake's 50's sitcom dad act, as well. It's funny. :3)

18. AVATAR *_* <3<3<3<3 *obligatory fangirl squeal about third season preview ^^*

19. Your newsletter--I wish to subscribe to it.

THANK YOU. SO MUCH. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's vastly stupid.

12. WORD. SO MUCH WORD. I barely broke a sweat with the other bosses. I mean, I lost once or twice with some, but no problem. WITH HER I WAS SO TEMPTED TO CHECK GUIDES ON THE INTERNET. DDDD= DIIIIIIE. DIE. Die already! Die. DIE.

2. I agree with what [livejournal.com profile] jlarinda posted a page back. Although I'm pretty sure C!Syaoran would not be stammering at all. XD; I have a feeling either Kurogane or Fai will die soon... I'm pretty sure if the latter does, the vast amounts of Fai fangirls will sink into depression. :\ Anyway, I'd take you seriously; I really don't see why people would not.

16. A Yakipan secret! :o ♥ Those two are so adorable together. <3

20. A-freaking-men!!

[identity profile] jlarinda.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, R!Shao seems more mature :D;; BUT he still was all shy when Sakura smiled at him! And the OP was talking about Cloney >>;

God, I so hope Fye won't die.
a) It'd be LAME. At least make him want to live! What's the point in killing a guy who wants to die!?
b) The fangirls already think of him as this martyr.. Imagine if he died.. ghajfh ugh it'd be awful.
c) DX I want him to live.

9. HEAVY METAL! YAY! :D

20. If you don't want to read it, then don't read it. It's as simple as that-- if someone's pressuring you, just tell them to fuck off. It's your decision, no matter how much of a good book it was.

Heavy Metal? I'm curious, could you please enlighten me?

To each their own. You're not obligated to like the rpg your friend(s) do(es), especially if it squicks you. I have an rpg that I can't roleplay at because I don't care for anything about it, either, so I do know where you're coming from.

[identity profile] saave.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Sabriel is an awesome woman, but I prefer Mogget. The world was awesome, in all four books.  Garth Nix said he has notes for more books, however, and I am over-joyed, even if he also said there was no guarantee he’d write anything for said notes.

19. Alan Rickman f-t-fucking-w.

20. I have honestly had people warn me not to read it. So I haven’t. Take that, ALBUS SEVERUS.

12. HOLY SHIT IAWTS AUUUUGH

i felt like such a dweeb when i posted in a community like "lol how do i beat her? \(O_o)/" it didn't really help that i was underleveled.

[identity profile] ambiance.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
also, final boss was like pathetically easy for me wtf. i was all "OKAY, I HAVE MAXED OUT APPLE GELS AND ORANGE GELS AND ____ GELS AND JUST EVERY OTHER ITEM IN EXISTENCE, I'M READY" and i only used like less than half of those items. what.

[identity profile] errorism.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
19. AHAHAHAHAHAHA yes on Starscream because he is the absolute shit. But Alan Rickman is not hot and he can't transform into a jet, so no.

#5: You hit two of my fandoms in one go (Abhorsen series and Coupling)! It's been way too long since I've watched Coupling and I really ought to go back and rewatch my DVDs. I was just thinking about Susan and Steve and Jeff and secret toilet weapons today, too... I miss those guys.

<3 Jeff. The show was never the same after he left.

Coupling definitely needs more fans -- and it's not hard to get people hooked -- but I wouldn't go looking for an actual "fandom" for it. The Abhorsen world, on the other hand, omg there needs to be fic. There's so much to do in that world. I never even thought about looking for fic. Now I am on a quest.

I saw your icon and I just have to respond with my own.

I can't bring myself to watch the last season because of lack of Jeff.

[identity profile] beckyh2112.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
19. Well, of course the transforming F-15 is hotter than Radcakes.

Astrotrain is hotter than Starscream, though. >_>

5. COUPLING. I swear, when I get the chance I am BUYING that series. And Sabriel is awesome. :D Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom series is pretty good too.

... I do hate (in a loving way) his tendency for extreme cliffhangers at the end of his books though. XD

[identity profile] eibii.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
9. Taarna! Word. I think that was probably one of the more stunning moments of my young movie-watching life.

13. Ouch, I hate it when that happens. I've been blissfully ignorant -- did Konaka and/or ABe make disparaging statements, or was the Lain background more of a charming meta twist on the general subject of creators and consumers?

Oh, and 1!

[identity profile] eibii.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I've felt like that a lot. I say, go ahead and write it anyway. Though, uh, I've still gotta try it myself. Yeep. As long as it's not, y'know, a screaming capslock piece about the wonders of Character X and Character Y having sex on a table at Moog L. Cheeze's, I think you'll be just groovy as far as people respecting your take on things goes.

[identity profile] sarajayechan.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Then write it. If they throw shit at you they're just being elitist and selfish.

6. ...Ewww.

10. Signed.

I'll agree with you on Sabriel. The world Garth Nix gave us? Effing awesome. The thing is, I'd love to write fic for it, but seriously:

I have no idea where to start. D:
