I'm kind of torn on this. On the one hand, I'm disappointed, because why have a bi character if you're just going to pair them with someone of the opposite sex? But at the same time, that's kind of the point, that they can be with either. I guess I'll reserve judgment until I actually see it, and what her character's like/if they have chemistry.

I'm not a very experience cosplayer (read: at all), so a lot of the design stuff is over my head. But I'm interested mostly in trying to pull off a male character in the military as a female. But with the same attitude and badassery, and none of the sexy "Oh look I have my flight suit unzipped teehee" shenanigans that genderbending sometimes falls into. Especially with this niche, it strays away from the character's original intended design, and defeats the purpose.

But my big problem is that I hardly look old enough to be in the military as either gender, so I'll have to try really hard to pull of the attitude.

Basically what I want to do is try to look as badass and capable and grr as a female under 5 feet, as a man about 6 feet and ten years older than me. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A BAD IDEA IN RETROSPECT.

Not a very good one. The fandom is too obscure for us to care. What's the point? I'd be more inclined to think it wasn't a troll with a fandom this obscure.

Honestly, that's the reason I haven't written any ace fic. I just know I'd have a hard time not writing the ace character as exactly like me. I mean, I already project like woah all over Sherlock...

Also, all I want for Christmas (besides a Black Widow movie) is an ace fic that goes like this:

ace: "Okay so I like you a lot, but I think sex is gross and I am even less interested in interacting with your sexual organs than I am in, say, teenage Korean pop stars. I would almost rather re-read Beloved."

non-ace: "Wow, um."

And then they move on, at least temporarily, and go catch a movie or something.

Just, how does one buy old comics? I was under the impression that the comic book stores in my area only sold new stuff and rare/exclusive stuff. And how much money should I be expecting to spend on this?

I'm the same way. Pedophilia is probably the #1 thing I just can't handle, and everyone I know likes to give me crap for it. ("But...but...you don't even *like* kids!" So that means I should be okay with them being molested? Wtf?!)

I've actually gotten into arguments with people I know before about whether it's okay to look at child pornography. Their argument was that there was nothing wrong with it as long as they didn't abuse actual kids, which really unsettles me. And I know I've had people here basically say "as long as they don't act on it, you shouldn't judge someone for just wanting to rape a child" and my thought is yes, yes they should be judged for that. I'm not going to say throw them in jail for just thinking it, but if they share those desires with anyone else, I really don't think it's outside the bounds of reason to think they're a sick fuck for it.

I just really can't handle some people.

The best defense of labels I have ever read boiled down to "we use labels because things that exist have words to describe them, and when we give something a name, we acknowledge it exists." I wish I could find it again...

Also, let it be said that half of your costume isn't going to be what you wear but how you wear it. Acting goes a long way and believe me, if you act well enough you can make me believe anything.
