10. I LOVED WISHBONE AS A KID. ♥

[identity profile] chaoticchicken.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Word. I automatically think less of anyone who writes/RPs/talks about the characters specifically in that game when they've never played it, too.

7. No one's stopping you from making your own icons.

20. I'm actually kind of curious as to how.

And nothing is stopping me from posting here either.

4. She's fucking GORGEOUS. Alot of my friends are like, 'ew fat' and I am like, 'FUCK YOU GUYS WITH A STICK now let's go get some lunch' because she is amazing, particularly in Chicago and Hairspray.
10. WISHBONE! :3
17. Those are amazing stills. I never watched Passions (General Hospital for life <3), but those are just fantastic.
19. Signed~

[identity profile] bouncy-erbear.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
4. Dude she is curvy and beautiful...all those other woman are anorexic...God I hate the standards of "beauty" nowadays >.

14. L/Misa was the only DN pairing I ever cared for. :O

karel: (text; coffee is serious business)

[personal profile] karel 2007-08-06 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I've honestly never understood that. I tend to be angry with the person playing the character rather than starting to dislike the character/pairing.

5. ... Yeah, and I think less of you for your condescending attitude. I am fucking awful at doing math quickly in my head. Call me stupid if it makes you feel better, but there's a lot of people like me.

8. My Mary Sues allowed me to actually START writing to begin with. I think the hate for them is blown out of proportion.

10. WISHBONE. OHMYGOD~ 8D I loved that show as a kid.

19. I'm neutral on it. All I care about is how convincing it is, and having a decent reason. Slap an AU label on it, for all I care.

20. ... I'm sorry. I think it's pretty stupid that fandom is like that. >>'

22. YES.

Except... I'm not so sure I agree with writing without seeing the source material. :\ I did that, and was fairly well-praised for it, but then I realized just how off my stuff was. Fanon is often better received than canon.

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
7 See my oversaturated screenshot icon for my commentary, please.

So sorry that you don't think they're real icons, how about you make some "real icons" of your own, then? Fill your fandom with them if you think so little of other iconmakers.

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
19? 22?

Back alley, bare knuckles. I demand it. ♥

I'd pay to see that fight. >;D

[identity profile] crackjaw.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
19. I don't really mind "canon nazis" except for the ones who think everyone should ship canon, no exceptions, and every AU is a bad AU and THERE IS NO ROOM FOR INTERPRETATION DAMMIT.

[identity profile] sarajayechan.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Ditto.

[identity profile] sarajayechan.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
7. Everybody run! It's the icon police!

[identity profile] teaclovers.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think this is probably the funniest comment I've ever read.

7. I don't make icons or have any idea how, really (aside from cropping in paint, whee, I have leet skillz), but how are people who work to saturate or recolour or do whatever to images the ones with less of a life than "real iconists" who may work just as hard to chose fonts or borders and whatnot?

Altering colours and cropping well and chosing the right image frame seem to me just as important skills as doing whatnot with photochop. I'm not saying there aren't people putting out pointless batches of stuff only for the sake of doing it, but it doesn't mean that style of icon is bad.

[identity profile] teaclovers.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Coloring is harder than it looks. D:

[identity profile] runic-binary.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
May I just ask why you wanted to write fic for fandoms that you've never read the canon for? I mean, why were you interested in the fandoms?

[identity profile] teaclovers.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
8. I think alot of people here started in the same situation as you (me included) it's a bit scary admitting it.

[identity profile] sparklemagpie.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
8. THANK YOU ♥ You're so very right.

10. Oh my god! XD All I know about classic literature I learned from that adorable little dog!

21. My mom doesn't share my fandoms, but god we DO talk like that, like we're bestest highschool friends. It feels so good, I wish I could thank her enough.

[identity profile] biases.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
#4 - I think she is so beautiful, and I'm a girl!

#14 - you're not alone in appreciating the pairing, but I find it too intimidating to write. A lot of things would have to work in a L/Misa and I don't have the confidence that I would make it right. :(

#22 - why write for something if you haven't even bothered to read the original series? Surely it's just a waste of everyone's time if you're not going to actually work with the characters and instead just foist your interpretations onto your friends to pick apart. Save everyone some trouble and read it yourself. Just because no one has complained doesn't mean you're doing the right thing. :(

[identity profile] ensuing.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
10: Wishbone! YES! Now I want to go back and finish that stupid Wishbone Odyssey game I got back in the day.

15: AGREED.

10. I HAD THAT GAME. I remember never being able to figure out exactly what to do once you got to land, but I was like 8, so maybe that explains it.

4. It's already been said more than once, but w/e, she *is* attractive. I'll be good to mama. D:

6. ...:( That really, really sucks. Let them know that you feel neglected, if they really are ignoring you or whatnot for rp.

7. Mmk. Out of curiosity, what fandom do you mean?

21. That's cute. :3

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)

1. Or one obscenely annoying fangirl ...

21. Ehehe. I love you just for your graphic alone. My mum gets irritated or annoyed when I talk about fandom or anything I really enjoy because she has no clue what I'm talking about, it makes her feel uneducated, or I won't let her watch shows I watch because I don't want to offend her. I don't want her to watch The Tudors because of all the sex and the homosexual subplot -- I almost let her watch the season finale but then I remembered it opened with Henry masturbating and that was the end of that idea. It's really sad that I know more about sex than a 50 year old woman. I hide fandom from her because she would not get it, or be offended, or find it gross. I think she and I would get along better if she would just give something a chance with an open mind instead of forcing me to deny liking things and directing her away from my interests as to keep her from being shocked or put off.

22. ... if you've never read canon I'd say you're one of the reasons fandom used to be better. You might be good at what you do, but when there are hundreds of new fans who don't want to bother with reading, watching, playing the fandom they're in ... well, it starts to suck. I used to be very heavily into the FFVII fandom and about the time all these new fans who didn't want to bother playing the game and were basing everything off fanfic and Advent Children, the fandom really began to suck ass. Not to say there wasn't bad stuff before because there was, but I can say that fandom was better years ago.

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2007-08-07 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
At least after AC fans knew who Zack was. I swear, I remember reading fanfiction by people who responded "who?" to mentions of Zack.

Though, I could really do without all the people who only saw AC and now write during-game fic. FFVII is one of those games that has an awful lot of things happen during it, and none of the walkthroughs really give you a good idea of how bad the translation was the events that really transpired.

21. :D That's fantastic!! (especially since there's the Shaun and the Simon/Nick stuff.. :D) I actually think my mum is secretly a * bit* of a slasher. She slashed two characters in the Bill randomly once. My mum shares lots of my fandoms but not all of them, and it's great. I *love* how we both get so excited to watch something, and then we'll squee over it...

[identity profile] lovefromgirl.livejournal.com 2007-08-07 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ditto, ditto, ditto. Right down to the Simon/Nick. "Are you... slashing this?" she asked during Hot Fuzz.

[identity profile] kiradesu.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
7: Oh Lord. "Iconing" is serious business, isn't it? Can I ask what makes someone a "real iconist", and while I'm at it, why the word "iconist" even exists?

14: I ship it 8) But I agree, no one else does lol

15: KAMISAMA KAZOKU FTW. The OP + ED songs of that series have no match.

20: ... wtf? Care to elaborate??

I don't understand how there can be repeats. Your secret already got posted dumbass. I can't believe it even gets acknowledged with a link.

Also, 9. Better watch out, I don't think you can post up The Corinthian on LJ anymore. He IS a homo pedophilic eye eating serial killer of little boys after all. ;)

[identity profile] pts.livejournal.com 2007-08-07 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
8. Are you saying that Saber is a Mary Sue?! SURELY YOU JEST. :-)

13. Oooh, I hate that you beat me to a Takarazuka secret. WELL PLAYED, ANONYMOUS. And good one. I'm more of a Phantom/Yoka Wao fan, myself.

(Anonymous) 2007-08-07 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
*bows* Oh, of course, Youka Wao is fantastic too, don't get me wrong on that. ♥ Just. Gah. Yami ga Hirogaru has been on my playlist for a week straight and it just... snares so viciously. Phantom is far more gentle, I'll need to watch it again once I get down off this high. It's all so overwhelmingly awesome~.
