So I waited for that guy featured in the "most embarrassing clit/cock block thread" on his campus with my friends. I kept imagining the tackiest disney series scenes like he was going to come walking out with his arm wrapped around his girlfriend and our eyes would meet and time would slow and you would audibly hear my heart shatter and the audience would "oooh" sympathetically. Or that he wasn't even going to be there and time would speed up around me until I was a withered old lady.

Instead our eyes met and he tripped a little. I resisted the urge to squish his cheeks. He was happy to see me and not weirded out and apologized for bailing the other day.

I totally ditched my friends so we could go get ice cream.

It was a bust.

He doesn't like Firefly, doesn't "believe" in cursing, and wants to wait until marriage to have sex. Which, as you can imagine, means marriage is something he wants to accomplish soon.

I own two copies of Firefly (one for lending purposes), fucking love curse words like a rubber fuck muppet loves eating dick cheese, and believe it's not pre-marital sex if you never get married.

He thought we should hang out anyway but the boy DOES NOT LIKE FIREFLY. He called it a "cheap knockoff of Star Wars". I'm thinking we might just skip the friend part and go straight to mortal enemies.

As a huge Star Wars AND Firefly fan, I just have to say the fucking HELL?! No it's not! Of all the things to pick, too. Has he ever SEEN Firefly or Star Wars? They're both set in space, but so are a lot of things.

I have to say, I've never gotten people thinking they aren't compatible with someone because they like or dislike a show/movie/book, though? Is it only a deal breaker if they actively hate it, or would it also bother you if they had never watched it (I've never watched Fifrely myself, so maybe it's reallly great and I just don't know...)?


But, with the differences about premarital sex and him wanting to marry soon, I guess it's for the best.

I'm always excited to meet someone who has not seen Firefly. That's why I have an extra box set! I normally don't really care if someone has a different taste than me in something but Firefly is pretty special and he actively dislikes it but enjoys other sci-fi.

I personally know two people who hate sci-fi that bought their own dvd sets when I introduced them to Firefly.

Agreed on the "not liking Firefly = deal breaker" thing. And, for all the people wondering, it's not because they don't like a thing that I like. It's because, generally speaking, you can tell a lot about someone by the reason they don't like it.

Firefly is not a perfect show; cowboys in space might not be your thing. But if I meet someone who doesn't like it solely because one of the main characters is a prostitute...well, I see no reason to befriend them. ;D
