i agree, thought i'd hazard a guess that you dislike Marvel because you like some other type of comic...i simply don't care for any of them

If you're a DC fan...well I am too. But I like the MCU. There's a few duff films but generally they're doing better than the DC films recently, Batman aside. IMO of course.

When I was a kid I watched animated versions of both. I think I only got into DC more because it was a lot of canon to take on trying both and I liked Batman best *shrug* never had it in for Marvel as much as I'm supposed to...

Oh baby, just for that I'm gonna squee over that amazing glorious fictional universe and it's wonderful and fascinating superheroes twice as hard.

I agree that the vast majority of their comics suck ass now and just depress or disgust the shit out of me, but doesn't stop me from loving almost everything they've built.

Also, you do realize that the movies and the comics take place in entirely different universes, right?

Yeahhhhhno I don't see that happening. It's basically a license to print money at this point. They're not giving it up.

I mean, I'm not gonna hope for the latest Batman movies to go away just because I hate them. That'd be selfish and petty, cause lots of people like them. I'll just quietly stay away from the squeeing over them.

Which is what I recommend you do with the MCU, really.

I'm a lapsed Marvel fan and I'm not really that hot on the MCU either (some of the movies are alright, tho'), but I don't go around telling people to stop having fun with the stuff just because I'm not a fan of it.

Yes, because other comic book heroes are so much better amiriteorwat? I mean, Marvel's the only comic book publisher who has heroes that are either: a) people from a mythologically-based warrior people who have godlike powers, b) aliens with god-like powers, c) brooding vigilantes who want to right ALL THE CRIMES!, d) young people trying to come of age as they deal with superpowers and/or the antics of the latest villain of the week, or e) embody countless other tropes designed to appeal to the hearts (and wallets) of pre-teens and teens everywhere...

Um.

I had to jump ship to a new publisher and an entirely different genre in order to find a comic book I like, because of the way writing has gone down the tubes recently.

That said, I still like the Marvel superheroes. I don't think they're shitty, they're just somewhat more fallible than, say, DC's heroes. Superman and Batman are Stus. This is accepted. I accept it. They are all the best at what they do (as someone, I forget who, said about the kerfluffle that the Flash was faster than Superman: "He had to be. Speed is what he DOES. If he loses to Superman he stops being the fastest man alive, and becomes mundane: He's just a guy who is reallyreally fast". And that's what Marvel superheroes are, by design. People who are really good at what they do and fight the good fight for it (the recent run of Bucky, who isn't superpowered, as Cap is a good example).

I like them for that.

Well, except the Punisher. Not big on him. There are anti-heroes and then there are assholes who happen to kill bad guys. I consider Castle the latter. -_-

But, anyway. I love the MCU. Less than some people. But, seriously, filter it out of your tumblr searches and don't go to Marvel fansites. I'm sure you will survive other people having fun, OP. I know you can do it!
