But....he's not? He has faint shades of being a Mary Sue because of the whole ~so good and pure~ thing, but not that much more than any other superhero. And he does have inner obstacles and shortcomings that trip him up and stop him from just breezing through every problem. Mary Sues are people who can do anything with no difficulty and whose awesomeness makes everyone revolve around them.

Maybe it's because I keep getting inundated by Steve/Tony on tumblr (even though i have them Saviored....fucking not tagging), I can't look at him anymore with out getting super annoyed.

I was never a fan of Steve anyway, even if I did like his movie.

Also, very confused by this secret.

I like Steve/Tony, and even I am annoyed by the OTT feelsplosions and overly-tight goggles on tumblr. Geez, it WAS an ensemble cast.

Can I ask what you don't like about Steve? Not looking to pick a fight, it's just that I've never really heard real criticism of Steve that wasn't from some crazy hater. But I know you definitely are NOT some crazy hater, so I'd like to hear your non-cray-cray criticism of him. I like being aware of other fans' problems with my favorite characters, in order to not look like a near-sighted blinkered loon when I talk about them.

I wish fandom would just stop with that word. It has lost all meaning with how often/badly it's used.

I would've thought Thor fit the Mary Sue mold more. At least Steve can be a jerk, has inner turmoil, and isn't ridiculously overpowered. Thor, on the other hand, is loving, sweet, handsome, accepting of everyone's faults, is probably the only Marvel character who hasn't been a douche at some point, and is pretty much the most powerful member on the team.

Not that that's a bad thing, honestly. I adore both Steve and Thor and the term "Mary-Sue" needs to be put to death already as it has lost all meaning.

Naaaaaw, Steve wouldn't judge you for making self-inserts with him(if that's what you meant in this secret). I mean, after Coulson I think he'd get that he had "fans" and that it came with all that weird semi-celebrity hype.

Like other people have said, he wouldn't judge you.

In fact, he'd probably sit you down right now to explain that he doesn't mind. He's not judging you. You've learned and grown as a person. You're better than who you were yesterday and who could ask for more than that? And then he'd say that you shouldn't judge yourself for this. It's such a small thing and judging yourself will only make you feel bad. Why would you want to make yourself feel bad? Who gains from this self-judgment? No one. And no one minds new you. You shouldn't mind. It's okay.

I think...The Cap'n might be a little weirded out - I mean, I think he was kind of weirded out by Coulson/the idea that he had fans in general, so yeah. Probably a bit weirded out, but otherwise?
