I've been reading through the comments and just wow. So many male con-goes attacking female cosplayers because they won't sleep with them. They really don't get that women are not dressing up as characters for -their- pleasure. I especially love how he acts as if most women/cosplaying women don't know anything about comics. Delusion is a hell of a drug.

Lol @ the guys saying that nerds are totally accepting and that nerd culture is an accepting place. I'll believe that when anyone who's not a white, straight dude doesn't get treated like a mythical unicorn for liking nerd things. Or get put through the gauntlet of obscure trivia questions to ~prove~ that they're a "real fan".

I love nerdy things and I know a lot of other awesome nerds and parts of nerd culture are great. But love and rainbows and unquestioningly accepting it is not.

The link doesn't work for me (no facebook), but I'm 98% sure I saw this at reddit the other day. And you're right, his comments were disgusting. It saddens me that some people actually think this kind of shit, and that people have actually agreed with him. Arg... It's just wrong.

They need to pull their heads out of their asses and realize that they aren't the only ones who can like things, no one owes them anything, and people of all genders deserve respect.

I cant remember if Ive said this before, but Im gonna say it anyway. I dont give a crap.I appreciate a pretty Gal as much as the next Hetero Male. Sometimes I even go in for some racy type stuff ( keeping the comments PG for my Ladies sake) but dammit, dammit, dammit I am so sick and tired of the whole COSPLAY-Chiks. I know a few who are actually pretty cool-and BIG Shocker, love and read Comics.So as in all things, they are the exception to the rule. Heres the statement I wanna make, based on THE RULE: "Hey! Quasi-Pretty-NOT-Hot-Girl, you are more pathetic than the REAL Nerds, who YOU secretly think are REALLY PATHETIC. But we are onto you. Some of us are aware that you are ever so average on an everyday basis. But you have a couple of things going your way. You are willing to become almost completely Naked in public, and yer either skinny( Well, some or most of you, THINK you are ) or you have Big Boobies. Notice I didnt say GREAT Boobies? You are what I refer to as "CON-HOT". Well not by my estimation, but according to a LOT of average Comic Book Fans who either RARELY speak to, or NEVER speak to girls. Some Virgins, ALL unconfident when it comes to girls, and the ONE thing they all have in common? The are being preyed on by YOU. You have this really awful need for attention, for people to tell you your pretty, or Hot, and the thought of guys pleasuring themselves to the memory of you hanging on them with your glossy open lips, promising them the Moon and the Stars of pleasure, just makes your head vibrate. After many years of watching this shit go down every 3 seconds around or in front of my booth or table at ANY given Con in the country, I put this together. Well not just me. We are LEGION. And here it is, THE REASON WHY ALL THAT, sickens us: BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT COMICS, BEYOND WHATEVER GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH YOU DID TO GET REF ON THE MOST MAINSTREAM CHARACTER WITH THE MOST REVEALING COSTUME EVER. And also, if ANY of these guys that you hang on tried to talk to you out of that Con? You wouldnt give them the fucking time of day. Shut up you damned liar, no you would not. Lying, Liar Face. Yer not Comics. Your just the thing that all the Comic Book, AND mainstream press flock to at Cons. And the real reason for the Con, and the damned costumes yer parading around in? That would be Comic Book Artists, and Comic Book Writers who make all that shit up.

It almost sounds like he's bitter about it, rather than annoyed. I could understand being annoyed, but he sounds like a raging prepubescent.

In case you want it, there's an article here. He also apparently made a response to people calling him sexist but I can't find it off of facebook.

I'm curious as to what his response was, but considering his thoughts on the subject I'm not sure I ought to know. Those are probably just as depressingly sexist.

He's a comic artist that has worked on a lot of titles. Batman, Ironman, Spiderman, Green Lantern, etc. It's really sad that someone in the industry hates the female fans so much :/

It smacks of slutshamming as well. It doesn't matter how much or how little a woman is dressed she is -never- outright asking for sex. Just because someone finds her hot does not mean she now owes them sex. She could go to the damn con almost naked with star pasties and she still wouldn't be trolling for sex.

And damn it most female comic book characters ARE skimpily clad. In fact a good portion of them are. Maybe if he and others started drawing their female characters with more clothes female cosplayers would have more options.

Didn't he make a response to this after people started shitting on him? If I recall, it was like a backpedal without backpedalling. I think he just tripped and landed on his face though.

Either way, I kind of have to ask, what's new? Every few months something like this pops up in geek culture to just remind everyone how unwanted a lot of women are. It's getting really depressing.

In conclusion, he is an ass and I shall now proceed to forget his name and hopefully existence, which I just learned of today. The end.

For serious I am so sick of kicking up a big drama bomb over these sexist idiots. Imo the best way to deal with this fuckery is to completely ignore him and not give him any credit or attention. All he really wants is pats on the back from like minded assholes and/or attention. There is no way he is going to change is mind, so why even discuss it? Ignore and move on is a course of action I wish more people would choose.

He's going to get ass pats from like minded idiots no matter what. I'd rather have people there pointing out just how wrong he is to counter act some of that. Just staying silent doesn't always work. We had decades where people just stayed silent about shit like this, and things didn't really start to change until people actively spoke out against it.

Well, I know whose comics I won't ever be reading...I also now know if I really want to piss of con-goers I just need to go, dress up and have fun without them

Well as much as I love fandom stuff I've learned that there are many (not all) con-goers that are really out of it. Kinda dampens the fun to see that. I mean I meet plenty of people everyday who are into fandom stuff, but a lot of them don't necessarily go to conventions. I don't know why but I always run into the weirdest people there.

I'm not talking about teenagers or younger now, that's not so much of a big deal. I mean adults who do strange things. Granted I met this super nice family with their baby once and they were sane, normal people! But for some reason the cons tend to attract the crazy ones too...

Yeah, when I go to cons I tend to just be going to meet up with friends [usually ones who live out of state], but I've seen plenty of crazies. [I've also seen plenty of people who should *really* be in their room for what they're doing - not next to the bathroom, or in front of the elevators on the lobby floor.]
