After all the hype online about Q, when I finally saw the movie I was very disappointed. He was hardly in the movie!

Hah. Watching Skyfall fans on tumblr is the first fandom thing to make me feel old.

Not even that Q has so little screentime (I've shipped hard with less), but that every single fic I've seen for them seems to be written by someone who has absolutely no concept of Bond at all.

I love Bond/Q and I've written a fic or two myself, but I agree that many of my fellow shippers are kind of terrible. From the ridiculous Sherlock crossovers to the terrible OOC fics in which Q is an insecure little woobie (and an obvious self-insert for the teenager fic-writer), not to mention all the variations of "Q is asexual/demisexual/genderqueer/whatever" in fics that are usually barely disguised lectures about sexuality. It's kind of terrible. One of the few things we know about Q in canon is that he's a confident bamf who doesn't take shit from Bond, so I don't know why most fic writers write him like a 16-year-old who doesn't know what he wants.

There ARE some good fics, though, written by people who have a good grasp on the characters. You just have to find them under all the woobie!Q bullshit.

I still don't get the shipping of this pairing personally. I mean, tbqh I ship Q/myself.

I mean I watched when that scene was first released in the drum up to Skyfall, and I thought it was cute, but not shipp-y at all. And then everyone on tumblr was like OMG THEY ARE TOTALLY MY SHIP... Still a bit confused by it.

when whishaw was cast as q, i said to a buddy, "i bet you anything bond/q will become a thing. a big thing". she said, "it won't, because bond doesn't feed that kind of fanfictiony fandom. not even bond/vesper got that big."

I'm sorry, but I liked the spy/geeky tech support character ship better when it was called Snake/Otacon.
I don't really mind the ship, but none of the fics I've read envisage the way I thought the pairing would go... Eh.
(I came to the fandom for Silvia/Bond, and haven't really been disappointed by those fans!)

I don't really ship anyone in that movie, but fom a purely visual standpoint, I'd find Q/Bond pleasing because they're physically so different (character-wise too) and there's something really pleasing about that.

As for Bond/Silva - well, that scene was sort of hot. What do you expect?
And it sort of pleases me the dubcon/noncon side of the fandom is the chill one. Because some people still like shaming others for liking that.

Daniel Craig seriously has one of the ugliest faces I have seen on a guy in a long time. Probably THE ugliest, if I only consider people who are supposed to be attractive. Like a smaller-nosed proboscis monkey with stick-out ears.

This secret makes me happy because I left Skyfall shipping Bond/Silva and I find the amount of Bond/Q ridiculous. Q was in all of like five minutes of the movie!

I've seen pairings for less screentime. I know of one ship where two characters were on screen for maybe a total of five minutes, never seen together again, and the one person only shows up for a short scene in another episode seasons later (making him an extremely minor character).

I'm just gonna sit right here and ship what I want to ship~

I sort of agree. I'm glad it was around, because it made me go see the movie and I loved it, but already a lot of the fic is pretty bad. And already there are some authors/stories/series I know I shouldn't bother with. For a fandom that's only been around for a month, that pretty fast.

But there are a few really good fics too, that do get the characters right, and those are worth sticking around for. So it's a shame if this frightens people away.

...anyone remember Eames/Arthur? They both had a lot of screen time and they were often in the same room, but the fandom was based on ONE interaction ("sometimes you have to dream a little bigger, darling" or whatever).

To be honest, I think a lot of fans pick the two hottest, fittest men and pair them together because they look good on each other. I've done it- I don't really think it is a great part of fandom, but Bond/Q is certainly not the first time it has happened (Clint/Coulson, Puck/Kurt to some extent in the Glee fandom).

They would look nice together, not even going to lie.
