*waaaaaves* HI HONEY! LOVE YOU TOO!

Really, though, that completely made my day. I love knowing that there are people out there that actually like the crack Blu and I have made enough to call it their OTP.

*HUGS* Thanks so much!

14. I'm so sorry. That's just... that's so sad. Don't blame yourself though, please. Sometimes people are beyond help, and it sounds like he might well have gone over the edge whether you were around or not. You weren't to know, and he wasn't your responsibility. Don't let it weigh you down. Please.

re 4: ummmm no? have you even read this manga? It's called Keijijyou Na Bokura (or Our Everlasting in English). Though I do admit when it comes to sex, I am not the kind of person to be on top (tmi I know, sorry), identifying with that character is definitely not the same as identifying with "every uke personality in existance." :P

13. I met someone online once who really loved that show... If you're willing to out yourself there's heard_of_it which is for fanning of obscure/less mainstream shows, and that one would count.
22 and 1. What is it?

(Anonymous) 2007-08-25 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
22 is "Hawkeye" Pierce and Margaret Houlihan from M*A*S*H.

[identity profile] svenji.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
2. iawtc. i mean it's just my opinion (lol opinions are like assholes everyone has one etc etc), but i don't think there's really that much you can criticize eiichiro oda for. well, unless being awesome is a crime now!

25. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS god. especially spandam! i mean yeah he /is/ a total bastard, there's no denying that -- but that's part of why he's so interesting to me, i guess.

Nothing major to say, just general squee-age for sentai. Dekaranger is so awesome. :D (Did they ever do a Vs. movie with them?)

[identity profile] teostra.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
1. Total love. <3 I'm such a huge fan of those movies.

24. I wonder why it's such a stigma as well. D: It's totally acceptable to watch ESPN everyday, and be able to name the scores of every World Series game for the last 5 years. How is that any less imaginary?

[identity profile] bobalunatic.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
14. It is quite long, but it's a very sad secret... But really, don't blame yourself. You were just being a good friend. It's very rare to find someone who'd actually stand up and defend a lone peer from the rest. Would you have felt better if you hadn't stepped up for that friend? There's really nothing to feel terrible over. What happened, happened, and none of it is your fault. I think you did the most admirable thing you could've done in that situation. And in 3rd-5th grade? That demands a lot of respect.

Saying "if only I hadn't..." won't change a thing. Nobody, nobody could've known that your friend would change as he did.

[identity profile] affection.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
1. ... I LOVE HEEER. XD

[identity profile] ill-ame.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh come on, now. You can't deny that guys get away with so much more than girls do in fandom. It's been said before, but if a girl's weak she's useless and if she's strong, she's an overpowered sue. A lot of people seem unable to identify any middle ground. Sometimes this can be put down to bad writing on an author's part, but in a lot of cases, it's just fandom stupidity. And I'm willing to bet that most of it comes from girls themselves.

I don't usually have much of a problem with this. It's there, I'm used to it, I can look past it. But I'm not going to deny its existence. Get over yourself and open your eyes.

(Anonymous) 2007-08-25 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
3. I can't really say I'm that sympathetic towards people who say fandom made them hate a pairing or a series. ALL fandoms are insane in some parts, somewhere.
But still, I honestly can't say I mind, but you're probably going to have alot of ships ruined like that.
~lysanderxiiijr

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I think the reason though that some fans are currently unhappy with the TRC fandom is we were sane for such a long time. Even the KuroFay shippers were a nice bunch of people but as soon as Kurogane and Fay started becoming close to being canon, the crazy ones started coming out from somewhere.

As someone who's spent years in the fandom, I know where the OP of #3 is coming from. For a while now the fandom has been in a slow decline and it's annoying and frustrating to see what's become of a fandom that use to be so much fun.

You are not alone my friend, I'm starting to resent TRC fandom for those reasons as well. It's just starting to get ridiculous. It's still one of my favorite pairings, but, really, fandom is making me want to choke a bitch sometimes.

But you can still enjoy a pairing without getting too distracted by fandom. There are still plenty of lovely people in TRC fandom (from what I can find) and in every fandom you'll encounter some bad!fic. Like Anonymous said above, there's some insanity in almost all fandoms.

:D

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
That was for #3, since I'm stupid and forgot to say so ;>>

[identity profile] insanepurin.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
*cringe* I'm sorry something like that happened. But you were just doing like any other pair of best friends would do--roleplay, make believe, pretend they're other characters... you had no idea the guy would take this seriously. You have every right to be hurt, but you shouldn't feel responsible. Any number of things could have happened. What matters now is moving on and spending time with the friends you have now--you can't fix what happened in the past, but there's no point in trying to take care of something that wasn't your fault in the first place, right?

[identity profile] xfkirsten.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
1. OMG EVY IS LOVE.
I'm still pissed that someone other than Rachel Weisz will be playing her in the next movie, though. :(

Re: 19, My two cents and change.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, and agree with those who say you should not be lumping all feminists together. As a rule, I don't go around seeking out things that inspire !rage, because rage gets in the way of happy fandom experiences, but if you've been on the internet for any amount of time, you know that the asshats don't usually keep to their own little corner about anything. If I run across insulting comments from fans, I'll just respond to things as they come up. I try not to get flamey, but it's an issue that means a lot to some so I can understand if people get worked up. And finding instances of misogynistic fan behavior is not as rare as you make it out to be.

And if someone wants to say to avoid misogynistic elements in the shows themselves, I'd have to give up anime/manga/books/tv pretty much entirely to avoid it, so that's really impractical. One of the most imporant goals of feminism is getting people to recognize as wrong things that are so damn prevalent we've all accepted them as a normal part of life. It annoys me a little when people can't see this, and accuse feminists of creating the problem by merely speaking of its existence.

Basically, YES. Misogyny is just as big of a problem in 'fandom' as it is in society. I don't really know what the hell yaoi has to do with this, so I'm leaving that out.

I'm aware I've got a rather unpopular opinion on this matter, so I hope no one is too upset by this rather tl;dr response, but I felt it needed to be said.

#24 I totally know how you feel. D:

[identity profile] demonangelwings.livejournal.com 2007-08-25 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
14: I mean it when I say this: you did nothing wrong. In fact, it's pretty safe to say that you even helped him a little instead of hindering him. People like that usually have an ulterior motive to roleplay/believe to that extent--my best friend and I did the exact same thing up to sixth grade. We fantasized so much to the point where we honestly believed certain factors were real. Most of it stemmed from our desperation to escape the horrible reality we had to face in everyday life back then. Your friend might have had a similar reason.

...I'd like to go on about it but I fear it's long enough already. All I want to say is thank you so much for sharing this secret-because it reminds me how my life is so much more precious to me today than it was before.

how many feminists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? it doesn't matter, because they can't change anything! aaahahah, what a riot >_>

Do you need a history check? Honestly, if I'm misinterpreting the sheer 'brilliance' of this joke, somebody please let me know. I just found it incredibly sophomoric.

Although I don't hate KuroFay (on the contrary, it's one of my favourite CLAMP pairings), I gotta agree that it has a lot of sucky fans.

I know plenty of former fans of the pairing who no longer care about them because of all the fanbrats. Some of the fanbrats don't just "come off" as Sakura/Syaoran haters they are Sakura/Syaoran haters.

The fandom itself makes me bash my head into the wall a lot of the time but for some reason I always stick around.

Re: 3

(Anonymous) 2007-08-26 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for not mauling me for that secret. It's good to see that I'm not one of the only ones who thinks the fandom has gone quite bananas.

And since I'd never have the courage to say this to your face, and am far too intimidated to friend you, I'd just like to say you're one of the most awesome people in this fandom. Srsly. <3
