I can't believe there's anyone who ships these two. I mean, I can appreciate that Jaime is legitimately loving of his...sister...but it's just a vanity thing for Cersei as best I can tell.

I'm really glad to see him growing as a person. I don't really ship him with anyone, but probably anyone is better than her.

Yeah Cersei's POV showed what a shitty person she was. And yet the show has the audacity to paint her as the "strong, independent woman in a patriarchal society". Ugh.

I don't think the show is really doing that? I do think they're softening her a bit what with having Joffrey be the one to order the murder of Robert's bastards instead of Joffrey.

But idk.

I don't think Cersei is a good person. I don't think the show is trying to argue that she is.

But I think it's a really valid point that the sexism of her society has helped to shape Cersei to become the kind of person that she has become.

Whaaat? I don't see that at all. I think the show makes it clear she's rather power hungry, but too pathetic and incompetent at the game to go anywhere or do anything. Not exactly because of her gender, although it's clear she blames it.

Seriously, I don't know how you read something like that into the show unless you're looking for a reason to hate the showrunners.

I never got the feeling that it was a vanity thing with Cersei so much as it was part of how completely messed up her sense of her own identity is.

To me one of the saddest things about Cersei's story is that she never gets any real feedback from anything she does. Her whole life she's been ignored or overruled or misconstrued. So she does more and more outrageous and savage things and still can't get a clear reaction. She hasn't a clue how to get coherent responses from anyone around her. She's always just gotten abuse, contempt, or fear that had everything to do with the positions men had put her into and very little to do with anything she generated herself.

Jamie's the one thing she's been sure is hers, and their relationship - messed up though it is - was the only egalitarian one she'd ever had.

I feel very sorry for Cersei. I agree with the secret though. That ship is scuttled.

I ship them, there are probably my only OTP for the series. Actually, they're my only real ship, now that I think about it.

That said, I have to agree with the secret. I'm hoping we get at least one face-to-face scene for some resolution with them but even that is more hope than expectation.

I don't think very many people think that there's a happy ending in store for those two.

I have really complicated Jaime/Cersei feelings because yeah... their relationship is complicated. I think buy into their hype of being twins/mirrors/two halves of a whole and that kind of stuff, but I'm not sure it's true.

Like I think that's a really important part of the books- Cersei and Jaime discovering who they are as individuals, apart from their twin. I don't think that their genders are the only think that separates them. I don't think that Cersei would be just like Jaime if she were a man and I don't think Jaime would be like Cersei if he were a woman. I think they're fundamentally different people and part of their character arcs is about discovering that.q

Oh, I know that I'm delusional, I just don't care! I ship them so hard, and until their love burns on a glorious pyre of lust and betrayal, I'm going to cling to the incredibly slim hope that they'll be together some day.

(Yes, please feel free to laugh at my honest optimism that anybody could be happy in Game of Thrones ever. What can I say--I've never been very quick on the uptake.)

Pretty much every single Jaime/Cersei shipper I know (and I know a lot) does not expect them to make up and live happily ever after. Actually pretty much all of them just want Jaime and Cersei to die together (and even as someone who doesn't ship them, I will be disappointed if that doesn't happen in the books). So ... where do you find the delusional people who expect them to get back together?

I really hope they don't get back together as it were. Jamie's come a long way in the books and I think there is the basis there to make Cersei grow beyond her madness - she is in a pretty terrible situation after all. I try not to hate on her too much from the point of view that it is rubbish growing up and being told you don't get to lead/be heroic like your brother and your husband. Anyway, no matter what they've both done some terrible shitty tihngs, but I prefer them apart definitely.
