Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but what exactly did you love about Amelia (I'm guessing Sam's girlfriend)? She was a horrendously unlikable character from the start.

I like what Amelia represents to Sam - the possibility of a happy, normal life. I also just liked her character and thought she was funny and a good match for Sam. In comparison, I found Benny's annoying and Benny and Dean's relationship boring.

S8 hasn't been so bad, but S7 was a travesty. I like Benny and am ambivalent Amelia. I think her introduction just left a bad taste in so many people's mouths. She was so stupid and bitchy when we first met her. She only got a little better.

Anddddd I love Castiel (he is my favorite character) and would honestly probably not watch if he was killed off (I am barely watching now). I can't fathom wanting to watch 2 more seasons of Sam and Dean keeping secrets -> Finding out about secret -> Breaking up for an episode about secret -> Getting back together through some kind of contrived means -> Begrudgingly being together because everyone else they know is dead -> And repeat.

I agree with number 1, I think the show's been good lately.

The other opinions? Eh, I honestly don't have strong feelings about Amelia or Benny either way. Though I do love Cas, so I want him to stay.

I loved season 7 (Dick Roman was 100% awesome, one of the best SPN villains, I hate him so much because he killed Bobby, but he's such a smarmy bastard that I just can't help but adore him as well) & thus far adore season gr8 (Dean's emotional growth! Dean & Sam have a home! Destiel! Dean's nesting! Hellhounds! God's Obstacle Course!).

I don't have a real problem with Amelia. She's kind of blah, but I don't hate her.

I do, however, adore Benny & Cas. . . well. I love Cas.

However!

I do not judge you for liking/hating any aspect of the show because I am not crazy. :P

go on tumblr you'll find lots of people (& anti cas groups) who agree with you there i don't see why we have to have another reiteration of gtfo cas wank i mean it's not like this is an impopular opinion/needs to be a secret

i personally find the show very dull if it's just the sam&dean show i mean i guess they could get rid of cas but please add in another steady character that won't be killed off within 1 season please

I have loved every season of Show, don't care who knows, get that some people don't like Castiel (or even Benny) and that's all fine. Like i said - so long as the dislike is based on something legitimate - who am i to say you're wrong or bad or whatever?

Anon, are you me? I never thought I would be tired of Cas, but I'm *so* ready for him to just explode or something. His presence adds nothing to the show anymore.

But Benny, omg BENNY. The worst thing SPN has done in a long time was sideline that character. He was awesome, and a much more nuanced individual than we'd seen in a long time on that show. (And yes, the minute Benny showed up, I dropped my Dean/Cas shippery like a hot rock. Dean's chemistry with Benny? Uh-MAY-ziiiing.)

I liked Amelia, but I'm not sad she's gone. I disliked Benny, but I won't be upset if he comes back. I love Castiel, but if he dies one more time, I hope he actually stays dead. Series 7 was awesome, and I'm liking series 8 so far.

Eh, I might not be watching the show anymore (and so have no opinion on Benny or Amelia) but I've never been a big fan of Castiel. At first I thought I would be but he never grew on me.

I thought I was the only one who liked Samelia. I even left a story prompt for a fix exchange (I never got my story) of Sam trying to explain how this is the second time he's lost Dean with no mention of the family business. I'd kill to see this...I'm not good enough to write it, though. I just have the idea.

I really like Benny. I think he brought an interesting point of character that we haven't seen before. I don't ship Destiel, but I read Dean/Benny.

I'm meh about Castiel. He does provide some comic relief, which is nice, but otherwise eh. He's a third, unneeded wheel.

Personally, I thought the main problem with season 7 was pacing. It just had too many filler eps in a row and spread the mytharc eps out too thin. It had enjoyable individual episodes though and I'm kind-of enjoying season 8 so I'm with you on that.

I disagree with you about Amelia and Benny. Mainly because I thought Amelia and Sam had absolutely zero chemistry together while the opposite is true Benny and Dean.

100% with you about Cas. Mainly because his fans have ruined me for the character. I'm a Gen fan in the spn fandom and there is no escape from the destiel fans. I can ignore the wincest faction but when every single post I read about cas or dean is somehow linked to destiel, it's become my automatic reaction to just think, 'gtfo.' It's sad as well because I used to really enjoy cas and now I can't separate him from his fandom.

TLDR: Everyone will have different opinions and that's ok.

I like Amelia, and while I really used to like Cas, I think the show just doesn't know what to do with him anymore and he's just kept around for the fans. But why on earth do you dislike Benny? He's the best thing that has happened to this show in several seasons.

I'm so disappointed right now. I haven't watched SPN since the end of season 7, and when I saw the name Amelia in your secret I thought it was Jimmy Novak/Castiel's human vessel's wife Amelia Novak and got excited.

That would have been so awesome if they had that particular character come back, fleshed her out and turned her into a badass hunter or something - all the while upping the angst with Castiel flitting around wearing her husband.

I liked season 7 well enough (it's not my favorite, but it's not my worst either - I won't even say what season I dislike the most anonymously.most people would disagree most strenuously.) I didn't enjoy the first half of season 8 because it felt kind of disconnected to me - I think for that reason I don't care for either Amelia or Benny. I don't hate them, I just don't care about them. I think season 8 has come on lately, though, and has added some interesting new things to explore.

I love Cas, but I'm happy with him showing up sporadically. I don't want the show to be all about Cas' issues - and being a bit of a Samgirl I do find that Sam generally spends Cas-centered episodes standing around while Dean emotes, so I'm cool with him just popping in once in a while.

My thoughts about SPN are conflicted. I agree with you OP and really liked Amelia, as a character, and as a love interest for Sam.

I'm apathetic about Benny, but don't mind him.

But, I don't want Cas to go anywhere. I mean, it's not like he shows up as often as he did in previous seasons so I don't think it's too much of him.

Every time I see 'Amelia' in a SN context my first instinct is that it's referring to Amelia Novak. Then I get disappointed when it isn't.

Re #2 - I haven't been in the fandom this season, but I would've expected Benny to be unpopular. Maybe that was wishful thinking?

Re #3 - I didn't like Castiel when he first showed up. I eventually warmed to his original personality...which has been pretty much tossed out the window by now, leaving nothing but hijinks and More Angel Plotlines.

I see nothing wrong with 1 and 3 and totally agree with you on 2. if not for 4 I would wholeheartedly agree but Cass deserves to be as stable a fixture in the show as either brother after all he's done. They also need to stop using the 'manipulate Cass' plot 'cause that got old fast.
