I mean unless you run around telling Homestuck fans to kill themselves and telling your friends how much you hate hate hate hate something they enjoy, I'm not sure what the issue is. No one cares that you don't like homestuck. People care if your an asshole about not liking homestuck.

I care that I don't like Homestuck. I'm caught between "but it's such a huge fandom with so much pretty art and probably lots of awesome fic for whatever pairing I might enjoy!" and "but I can't touch it with a ten-foot pole because it pisses me off so goddamn bad." And because of that, I want it to go away so something else that I might actually be able to enjoy fills its place.

Guess what - life sucks. And seriously there isn't only SO MANY fandoms that are allowed. There are a shit ton of things out there that you might enjoy. Wishing something to go away that others enjoy just makes you an asshole.

There seem to be a great many people that are pissed because they can't run around telling homestuck fans to kill themselves. Apparently they think this a thing they should be allowed to do with no backlash.

Way to jump to conclusions - I said nothing about my hatred for the fans (which isn't much - I'm greatly annoyed at the ones who keep putting the seizure-inducing gifs in their forum signatures and icons/avatars, and the ones that do that stupid kismet-shipping thing or whatever the fuck it is for every other fucking fandom they're in like it totally makes sense, but that's the extent of my "hatred"). I'm actually sad that I can't be a fan of it and enjoy it along with my friends and the rest of the goddamn internet because I can't stand the style and nothing I've heard about it makes me want to try.

Homestuck (the actual comic itself) makes me angry, and that makes me sad because I'm missing out on having a shared fandom with a lot of my friends.

So don't read it and stop whining. There are a lot of stuff you can enjoy, and I don't know where the hell people go that they complain that "HOMESTUCK IS EVERYWHERE, OMG". It's not more popular than, say, Doctor Who or Supernatural or Harry Potter. Certainly, it doesn't come in my dashboard as frequently as I'd like to, and I'm a Homestuck fan :(

Yeah, this. I follow about as many Homestucks as I do Whovians, and Doctor Who comes up on my dash waaaaaaay more often than Homestuck.

Seriously?? I get like millions of Homestuck posts on my dash every day. But then again, I follow almost 500 blogs and a good 80% of them are probably Homestuck, so... well, that explains that. :)

Follow the "upd8" tag. :) It took me a little while to figure that one out, but it seems like that's where most people post their thoughts and reactions after the updates and it's kind of fun seeing all the excitement/angst/furious theorizing that goes on after every new upd8.

OP has already explained it's the gifs and the artstyle, and they are different from the others that are everywhere.

I can sort of relate (if I'm not misinterpreting.) The fandom is very enthusiastic and seems fun; it's huge, the fans are in every other fandom, and the fusions/crossovers they do are usually pretty funny and don't require that you be too familiar with the story.

I've tried reading it, though, and I can't get through it. I even got through the first part, which everyone said was the worst, and I didn't like the stuff I saw after that.

No, I have one friend who is really seriously addicted to it, knows she is, and tells certain of her friends not to read it because it can be really unpleasant/triggering.

I think it looks pretty ugly.
