He's not? But I watched the operas over the course of a month, and right from the start I hated Wotan. I think he's completely terrible. And sometime around when I watched Die Valkyrie, it kind of became an obsession? And yeah... turns out that for me, an obsession over how much I hate a character is not all that different in effect from an obsession over how much I love a character...

I think it means that it felt forced, like the writers were trying too hard to invoke a certain emotion and the result seemed fake (more so than fictional events are by default).

Since when? I don't understand this comment. You can switch off whatever thoughts you want, if you have enough presence of mind and willpower to do so. I pity you if you think you are at the mercy of your own thoughts, instead of the reverse.

Moe shows, I would argue, are generally more interesting in providing transparent otaku nerd wankbait than in making good shows, to their own detriment. Moe, in general, tends to have poor characterization (so as to present characters who are broad stereotypes that can appeal to the otaku fanbase) and to have characters that are kind of stupid and generally extremely incompetent. They tend to have paper-thin, dumb plots. And they make everything simultaneously sexualized and infantilized in an extremely insidious, creepy, disturbing way. They are bad shows catering to an audience of otaku creeps, basically. I'm sure that there are exceptions to that rule, but yeah.

For me it's when something is so BLATANTLY manipulative. Okay, sure, the story is a "lie", but I'm supposed to BELIEVE it. If I feel smarter than the story, it's not fun.

As Lucifer Fell (https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1sbOk0tLQbRS97a0ZdB07BjR_Pzmtocuo3OXKbqASzZI) is an older fic that predates the movie and has been recc'd a couple of times, I was kind of less sure about it (but I'm mostly in the fandom through the movie, though I am reading the book).

The Man You Take Me For (http://archiveofourown.org/works/645499) is by an author recc'd above, and is pretty sad.

Halfway to Halfway There (http://archiveofourown.org/works/697539?view_full_work=true) is also pretty good.

The Queen of Swords (http://archiveofourown.org/works/695533) I liked a lot, and it plays with a kind of fanon (I think it's implied in canon) guess about Javert's Romani background, and it's not really even slash, more just...Valjean and Javert talking? IDK, I'm a fan.

I stopped watching Red vs Blue toward the beginning of season 9, then when season 10 came out I went back and caught up and wondered why the hell I had stopped.

Well, the GC is full of shipping threads today, so I thought I'd add one. Odd ships: Do you have a ship that normally you would not like? One that you can't help but love, but really have no reason as to why?

Yeah. I mean, I enjoy shipping and squeeing about this ship and having "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT?" moments but holy shit. People take it so freaking seriously. And if Derek and Stiles are together in a scene, it's impossible to be happy about that (interaction!) because everyone's like OMG CANON. And I mean, I realize the actors played it up and I realize that it would be awesome, but holy shit, nothing we have seen makes me think this ship is going to be canon. And if Derek or Stiles gets a love interest in season three, fandom is going to have a meltdown and it's going to be miserable (granted, I don't want either of them to get a love interest but that's mostly because I get enough of that from Allison and Scott, hahaha).

And man, I love the kinks in this fandom, I love that people are writing whatever they want to write without shame, I just wish they would remember that Stiles is a pragmatic little shit, Derek is a huge asshole who doesn't think things through, and Scott is the nicest person on the show. Write whatever you want but please keep these characters somewhat in character.

And the bad thing is, I drank the coolaid. I have fucking pack mom!Stiles fic on my AO3 account. I want to delete it but I want to keep the kudos and commments, sob.
