Don't really know much about the first two, but what about, just for example: Picard/Data, Spike/Xander, Aragorn/Legolas. Those are just the obvious ones. Do you just not like the other males on their respective shows?

You couldn't find a single solitary character to ship Picard with in seven seasons? Not one?

I know Spike and Aragorn both have popular -- multiple popular! -- slash pairings, so they must just not be to your taste. I don't know about 11 in particular, but the Doctor certainly does, too. So I guess you're really particular...

Man, now I feel weird for thinking Picard/Riker was totally awesome. And Picard/Q, too, in that bantering hateship sort of way.

Shameful admission, as well: Aragorn/Legolas is the runaway popular slash ship for Aragorn, but on subsequent rewatches I've been shipping Aragorn/Frodo more and more and more. It hits basically every last one of my buttons, both romantically and sexually.

But why do you have to slash them? Darken Rahl is an awesome character. And there are a lot of potential people to pair him with. Such as Cara, Denna, any of the other Mord'Sith, Kahlan, etc. Why do you feel you have to have him paired with a guy?

I don't know the first guy at all. Picard, I freely admit, I happily ship with Q. I don't really ship LOTR at all, beyond vague appreciation for canon ships and Legolas/Gimli. Spike, I mostly tend to ship with Watchers. NuWho, I'm not shipping the Doctor with anyone, except possibly the TARDIS (though Old Who I slashed Doctors left and right - Three/Master, Three/Brig, Five/Master, Five/Turlough, Seven/Brig, Seven/Master. I probably would have shipped Two/Jamie if I'd seen more of Two).

So ... I sort of get it? Commentors above have a point, though. When canons fail, there's always crossovers. Spike/Methos, for example (though I'm holding out for Methos/Drusilla, myself). Eleven/J'onn J'onzz, maybe. Picard/Captain Pellew in an epic AU crossover where Picard is in Napoleon's navy and runs afoul of the HMS Indefatigable ... Or, actually, Picard/Stephen Maturin, that might be fun. (Picard goes to Age of Sail for me, for some reason).

I can't wrap my mind around Spike interacting with Picard.

With The Doctor, what universe someone lives in doesn't affect the possibility of sexytims so much as the practicality of it. (I mean, it doesn't make something guaranteed not to happen, just highly unlikely.) I can totally see a TARDIS malfunction leading to a crash landing in Middle Earth, having to fight Orcs to keep the TARDIS from falling into Saruman's hands, and running into Aragorn along the way; slash happens. I'd write it if I could write.

(Hmm. Jack Harkness/Legolas. An interesting thought.)

Well, you have the whole Star Trek universe to choose from for Picard, what with the time travel possibilities available. And for the Doctor, well you could put him with literally anyone without much more of an explanation than, hey, he's a time lord. There are also numerous crossover posibilities for any of these characters.

Picard/Aragorn OTP! Imagine them quoting Hamlet and the Lay of Luthien at each other and sparring riding and horseback and being regal and commanding and I totally wanna see Aragorn take command of the Enterprise in an emergency and Jean-Luc rally the armies of Gondor at Minas Tirith *DIES*

I was surprised to see Spike up there but I guess the supply of shippable dudes on Buffy is kind of limited if you aren't into S/X or S/A.
