Omigosh, babby Jeremy Renner just looks like the Trouble Kid from every early 90's kid's flick. Look at him. I just wanna rub his spiky little head, it's so ridiculous.

That said, I just don't like high school AUs for adult characters because...ah, I dunno, it kinda squicks me a bit.

pretty sure you can put together the entire fandom of all languages and all countries and 'that pairing' would still be the most popular. You didn't fix anything (maybe just made another correct statement).

Same mid-length/long hair (because I just grew it back out last year), but I had much worse acne an increasingly distended stomach (thanks, undetected food allergies/sensitivies) and stick-like arms and legs. I also had braces up until halfway through freshman year.

When are you streaming this? I need to be there.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
they arguably could have had a much better breakup scene

By...existing. At all.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't really agree with you about Tenzin and Pema since there's not much we know about that situation, and it seems like Lin is on good terms with both. But the Mako/Korra situation I do agree with. At least you're polite about your views, OP. Which is less of what I can say for the people responding tho this secret. :/

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
If it does a good bit of business in the UK, the US will remake it. Sorry, that's the way it is. :(

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Probably because it's Hetalia France and Hetalia France is very effeminate.

And this makes him not a man because...??

Still waiting for the explanation.

Meh, calm down, OP. It's not a zero sum game. If there's one thing to know about the art world, it's that there will always be a lot of people who are more popular than you. Some will be more talented. Some will not. Some will just be lucky or topical or clever, or just have one really funny joke.

Do I wish my stuff got more play online? Yeah. (Especially because online popularity can translate to con sales, and also because I am a giant attention whore.) But there's not really much of a point in being jealous. Especially not "for the sake of" another artist.

It's all good. It's a big internet out there--no one's gonna take it all.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Adulthood early, he had it. XD

My first thought was flatbear, whose work is hilarious and adorable, but I suppose isn't exactly anime-esque?

Re: What did y'all eat today?

[personal profile] pantswarrior 2013-03-29 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
A couple spoonfuls of Nutella and peanut butter. Too nauseated to eat solid food. Again. :/ I may try a little bit of apple strudel before bed though.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't know if teens are the majority of writers. I know quite a few people who write them who are forever reliving the disaster/success that was high school despite being well out of college. I suppose it depends on the AU and the characteristics of the high school. (You can usually date these things pretty well.)

/doesn't read many HS AUs but finds the concept and its popularity really interesting

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Tenzin/Pema was kind of super-awkward for me because that episode played shortly after my best friend broke up with his (kinda clingy, you're-not-allowed-to-have-other-friends) gf, mostly to see if maybe we could make it as a couple (and also because: see previous parenthesis).

We didn't. Still friends. But watching those scenes about a week after all that went down with all the super-awkward feelings...yeeeah, that was some seriously uncomfortable Avatar-times.

The time after next time. So... a month from now or so? I'm priming you guys with a good Eric Roberts movie next time so you can understand the full horror and hilarity of his voice over as the titular TALKING CAT. Imagine a movie that combines the best elements of THE ROOM and BIRDEMIC, directed by a guy who also does softcore gay porn (and recycles the sets, as you'll see) and featuring Eric Roberts doing a voice over that LITERALLY sounds phoned in- after a several day long alchohol binge. THAT'S A TALKING CAT!?! And, it's even better than what I make it out to be. Funniest movie I've seen in a loooooong time.

Yeah, heaven forbid Nathan Fillion get older or anything. As far as I'm concerned anything he's been in is automatically cool. :)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm over 40 and one of my high school friends was like that. He looks exactly the same now. He had to grow into his middle-aged face or something.
pantswarrior: Seven declares that fun may commence. (fun fun fun fun)

Re: What fannish things are you looking forward to for the next month, FS?

[personal profile] pantswarrior 2013-03-29 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Shuto Con in a week and a half! It's semi-local to me, and a friend got roped into a big Get Backers cosplay group by some of his friends, and invited me along. I've been cosplaying Get Backers for ten years now, so it's really awesome to think I'll get to be part of a big group again. :D

And a month and a half later, ACen! Slightly less local, but worth it, and I'm rooming with a couple friends who are flying out from the east coast, and making a rather involved new costume...

...And if I remember right, the new Star Trek should be in theaters right around then too. Which is right around my birthday. ACen is usually my big party, Trek will make it even better. (Even if it ends up being awful, it'll be fun to mock.)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds a bit petty to be so invested in how the fandom would react than just enjoying the show.

Don't you mean their Sherlock/John drawings? Not that the job at Gaiaonline didn't help.

It's wondrous. Unfortunately, Paint doesn't give any indication as to the full wonder that is those glasses...

Honestly? I'm impressed he managed to play a 20something at the age of, like, 30. He's just pushing the limits of realism of Jesse's portrayal, but given that this is the last season and yeah, Jesse's supposed to not be a tweaker anymore I think it works well.

Re: Damn it, damnit, or dammit?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I agree that "damnit" looks awkward. Every time I see it, I wonder who mistypes an "n" instead of an "m".
pantswarrior: Spock thinks everything is "fascinating". (fascinating)

Re: Episodes that everyone loved but which you just liked

[personal profile] pantswarrior 2013-03-29 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
TOS: Amok Time. Maybe because I'm asexual? Or because I don't ship Kirk/Spock and didn't actually find that episode subtexty at all? Bah. Finding out more about Vulcans and how they differ from humans was cool, and Bones' trick was great, but I don't really get why everyone thinks it's so awesome unless it's just the "Spock's horny!" factor.
