Nobody's saying women can't be rapists, just that Regina and Lucretia aren't.

Except that they ARE! One of them owns the person they're having sex with - he can't consent freely because of the extreme amounts of power she has over him - and the other hold the other person *heart* which means that any consent he appears to give cannot be assumed to given freely.

If Crixus didn't have the ability to consent, why did Lucretia leave him alone when he asked her to even though she thought that time was her only chance to get pregnant?

Re: Graham. One, in Storybrooke he didn't remember the power she had over him. And two, he wasn't free to leave her, since she killed him immediately after he tried to, using the heart she had stolen from him.

Yes once he left she killed him, but if he had no free will, he would never have been able to leave her in the first place.

... Most people are raped have free will. Humans have free will. Many people who are raped and abused try to leave their rapists/abusers. This doesn't actually change the fact that the rapist/abusers are rapists/abusers.

But the argument for Regina being a rapist is that Graham had no free will in Storybrooke because of the curse.

The argument in Storybrooke is rape by fraud using the fact that she remembers that she once raped and enslaved him, but because of her magic he no longer does. He's not consenting to sleep with who she actually is, he's consenting to who she's physically gone inside his head and made him think she is. So rape by fraud, and as soon as he manages to reach past that and try to leave, she kills him. He was having sex with her because she deliberately created everything about his situation in order to make him do so, and the second he tried to fight back, she exercised her power over him and killed him dead.

Not a consensual relationship.

Rape by fraud? I would call that manipulation and even dubious consent, but not rape per se.

But maybe I'm missing something, since I'm not into the fandom and I'm only basing my opinion on the explanations given here.

But Regina's own free will has been reduced due to the book of evil evilness supplied by Rumpelstiltskin. Her actions and decisions are corrupted by evil magic which prevents her from making "good" choices. If anyone is the rapist it is Rumples, by proxy.

If you go to a party and someone has dumped roofies into the punch do you blame the person who had sex with you while you were both roofied, or do you blame the person who put the roofies in the game?

I thought it was pretty clear in the flashback to the beginning episode that he she had a modicum of control over everyone's actions and Who They Were at the start, and that in Graham's case it was intensified because of the heart. Because when Storybrooke just popped into being Graham's default position was as her boy toy. And while she may not have been controlling his every move and thought, she certainly was exerting influence over him (and the whole town, but again, even moreso him).

Even if that's true, it doesn't make her any less a rapist. It makes her a particularly pathetic rapist.

Graham was able to leave because the curse was breaking. Look, I love me some Regina, but she totally raped him. We know from FTL that she raped him there, and it's pretty safe to say that being transported to a new land where everything was as the queen wanted it to be didn't really change that lack of consent.

Because one of the interesting things about Lucretia was her ability to fool herself into thinking she was actually in a relationship with Crixus. She was a very shrewd, intelligent, get-things-done kind of character but she had a MASSIVE blind spot about her own behavior with Crixus and either genuinely didn't see, or pretended not to see, that he was not a willing OR enthusiastic partner in her affair with him. But his attitude when she wasn't around, everything he said, pointed to the fact that he loathed her, and the only reason he had sex with her was because he felt he had to - to save his own life and protect his status in the ludus.

I don't know about the second lady, but Lucretia is a rapist. The whole dynamic of Lucretia having sex with her slaves is rapey as hell. A slave can't say no.

have you even watched the prequel anon? just because Crixus said 'no' once and she acceded to that when she thought he was recovering, he is still a slave and still has no agency or power to say no to the entire situation. look at the first time lucretia *orders* Crixus to have sex with her. Not his control, not his volition.

it's reinforced over and over in the series that all the slaves are used consistently, without their permission. gannicus and melitta were literally *forced* into sex for the amusement of another roman, who also raped Diona. The whole show is filled with forced sex with people who did not consent or could not consent (which is the definition of rape)

Regina was though, or did you miss the scene where she stole the guys heart then ordered him be taken to her chambers despite his obvious dislike for her before she took all control from him.
