OMG, is this the episode where Ulquiorra finally takes Orihime away (it's been ages since I've seen Bleach, so I apologize if it is). If so, then this is the episode that pretty much cemented my hatred towards Orihime. I've never liked her for obvious reasons (her being an air-headed, clumsy ditz with a creepy obsession over Ichigo), but I've also never HATED her-- at least until this episode.

I still get all red-eyed when I think about the way she chose to say goodbye to Ichigo of all people. There were so many other people she could have chosen instead, such as Tatsuki, HER VERY BEST FRIEND WHO PRACTICALLY RAISED AND PROTECTED HER FOR YEARS, but noooo, who cares about friends when there's a crush in the picture, right?

1. Tatsuki is still Orihime's BFF. Her feelings for Ichigo has not gotten in the way of her close friendship with Tatsuki.

2. The reason why Kubo showed Orihime saying goodbye to Ichigo instead of Tatsuki is because: a)Ichigo is the main character and hero of the story and b)Tatsuki is a freakin' side-character whose only role in the manga is to be Ichigo's muggle friend.

Just because she acts silly doesn't mean she's stupid. She shown she can calculate her moves, has given insight into situations and people, and can hold her own.

It's funny, but for me there used to be a time where in fiction, kissing a sleeping person was sweet and romantic. Nowadays, I do find it skeevy, too, if the characters in question aren't a couple. I guess that's the price of becoming aware of various issues regarding consent.

That being said, isn't that pretty much the reason why Orihime stopped herself? Because she knew that it was wrong for the very reasons I just mentioned?

She stopped herself because she didn't have the nerve to go through with it, not because it was "wrong". You forget, the moment was portrayed as romantic by author. If Kubo wanted it to seem creepy and wrong, he probably wouldn't have drawn that scene.

Kubo stopped Orihime to add more to her angst.

Considering how naive and innocent Orihime is, I have almost no doubt in my mind that she'd see it as okay and romantic because hey, it's like the Prince kissing Sleeping Beauty or Snow White, only she's the princess kissing her sleeping prince, right?

Pretty sure everyone outside of the Orihime/Ichigo fandom thought this.
To me, it's always been weird. I never found it really romantic and got turned off by the close up of their almost kiss. All it showed was how it was a one-sided crush.

I don't ship it, but iirc Orihime stopped herself because Ichigo was knocked out. She knew it was wrong and also that it would have been like a half-assed(?) confession. But then again, I also have a bit of an issue with how romance is portrayed in Bleach (among other series), so I might be biased.

Eh, if it is creepy then most romances in animanga (and TV in general) should be creepy. Most have some sort of over-obsessive stalker-crush thing going on in them.

I just found it ...sad. Then again, I just wish Orihime was more than her crush towards Ichigo (which she did/does have awesome moments of, then...regresses). ...then again, I am ridiculously behind in Bleach so I don't know what has happened.

I find Orihime/Ichigo dull. But then again, I find most romances with a girl nursing a crush dull.
