What kind of annoys me is that the female ponies on that show are generally more pastel and more colorful in general while the male ponies (with only few exceptions) look pretty much like RL ponies and horses with short tails and dumb human haircuts.
More male MLPs who look like actual "pretty" MLPs, plz!

I don't know if I would like them better if they were boys, but I do love some me some MLP genderswap. But if you dare mention that around either bronies OR SJWs, you'd better hit the deck because the torches and pitchforks are coming out. The SJWs tend to be worse, though, because you're defiling the sanctity of a female-centric show or some shit. Bronies usually just go "male... ponies? Ponies are male? DOES NOT COMPUTE."

I just want to read a silly fic about dude!Rarity trying to get dude!Applejack to try on a tux or something, not cause the goddamn Ponypocalypse.

In fact Bronies do want more male ponies. Just not replacing the already existing pony waifus.
I'm not a Brony, but I enjoy the show and would love to see a male version of Rarity just to finally have a male fashion addict who isn't presented as a walking, talking gay stereotype.

And you don't need to be an SJW to see that changing one of the few well-written female casts for young girls to a boys club is somehow problematic, considering how many well-written shows already exist that are 80% male characters.

Gosh, I would LOVE to see a genderswapped version of that episode. Everypony rushes to save boy!Rarity because he's so prim and proper and more concerned with FASHION than sports, but then boy!Rarity goes ahead and saves himself by being polite and NOT by throwing punches, thus proving that being "ladylike" doesn't make him weak.

I mean, yeah, you're right, a lot of the show wouldn't change, because the moral of that episode would remain the same ("being ladylike doesn't make you weak") but gosh, I can never get enough "males who enjoy traditionally 'feminine' pursuits or find non-voilent ways to solve their problems are not weaker or lesser than males who are skilled at physical combat" in my television.

imo, most of them would be less interesting as boys, since a lot of them have characteristics that are more often seen in male characters anyway. Rarity and Fluttershy, though...

There are so many all boy shows/core boy shows, that having a show with a strong female cast for kids is great imo. I think having a show for boys that showcase different male personalities would be great however.

Um why? There are SO many shows about guys being best buds and male friendship and so little on the gender opposite. I don't watch MLP, but I'm glad it exists, because I'm really sick of the "girls hate each other and can only form friendships with guys" bullshit sterotype. Stop being so selfish OP, if you want a show about bromances, there are a million to choose from.

before I started watching the show and knew nothing about it, I actually thought Rainbow Dash was a boy. as it is, I kind of like that they're all girls, which is interesting because I usually gravitate towards male-dominated shows.

I wouldn't like MLP more if they were boys, but I'd like a show like MLP with boys. The closest thing to it is Boy Meets World, and I'd really like to see more series where male characters are more emotional, sweet, and fun without all the excessively brash and crude baggage tacked onto it.
