33 - Agreed ._. T_T

1. That's so cute! ^_^

16. I love Shinji. He might not be your usual anime main character but that's the point. He's confused, flawed, and lost like everyone else in the world. I adore him. I want to give him so much love and Kaworu.

21. I judge anime fans who say they hate American comics but haven't read at least ONE. So since they're being judgmental, so am I. There's quality work on both sides, people.

Also Jim Lee!Superman = Sex!

21. I like both, honestly. ;D

1. I remember me and my mother having a discussion about what an awesome father he is :) (Though my Perfect Disney Man would have to be Kronk from The Emperor's Last Groove.)

10&25. I've been trying to get into it purely because of what I've heard about Adriane, but mecha tends to bore me...

[identity profile] ensuing.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
16. He's a whiner, but I honestly do want him to be hapy.

21. Haha, about eight years ago I was a huge American comic fan, but I got sick of seeing pencillers change THREE times in a 12-issue series and 12 pages of ads in a 32 page book. I'm not saying American comics are bad (I still love Gambit, yes I do, and there are tons of series I love reading), but I prefer manga because the style is more consistent, it's cheaper, and I feel like I can get into the stories more. Still, American comic secret = ♥ It's a shame they are getting more and more overlooked.

25. I HAD nothing against the series, I only stopped watching the series because I was too busy to keep up with it. But afterwards, when too many friends would not shut up about OMG IT'S THE BEST THING EVER WHY ARE YOU WATCHING DENNOU COIL WHEN TTGL IS SO MUCH COOLER (I swear, me not watching TTGL was the core of the majority of conversations with them for a month and a half), I got sick of the show. Ugh. I'll eventually pick it up again and probably marathon it, but because of those annoying friends it probably won't be for a while. =\

21. IAWTC. Especially I got sick of seeing pencillers change THREE times in a 12-issue series and 12 pages of ads in a 32 page book. HOLY SHIT YES. And the thing with manga being more consistent. It's nothing on comics, it's just the way both styles developed, and superheroes strike a chord very close to my heart, but when it comes down to consistency in art and storytelling manga is the way to go. That said, I will give up my comics geekery for no man.

32. OH GOD, I KNOW THAT FEELING.
Every time I watch Arrested Development I ship them a little more.
Michael/GOB is so very wrong but how can you resist it when there are scenes like the "If you feel something moving down there, don't worry - there's a dove in my pants" one? Or "Taste the sad, Michael! Taste the sad!"?

[identity profile] daphhime.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
21. What's wrong with liking both? Or does liking one or the other just make you a elitist better person.

23. He's a decent actor and a nice guy overall, just don't agree with his persoal beliefs. It's one of those things where you have to seperate the talent from the personality or something. :/

28. Ummm...arn't they the same thing, or at the very least closly related. Or am I totally missing something here?

[identity profile] fyretoppaaa.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
21. Like someone else said, with American comics, I wouldn't know where to start. I do that whole 'if I don't know the canon inside out, I'm not worthy of being in the fandom' thing too. :/

25. Who is the one you're comparing Kamina to? 8D He's hot.

[identity profile] hezul.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
25. Not my secret, but. Daigouji Gai from Nadesico. He. Is. Awesome. :D

Maybe that's why it's so trite? :\
Sorry, to each their own, but I do not see what is so DAMN AMAZING about it and since I don't, I probably never will.

23. I have been quite vocal about my dislike of this man. I saw him at my local convention and was surprised at the number of fans he seems to have. I just dont agree with his views, and I think he's a lame voice actor, like most english VAs. But to each their own.

You asked for it!

25. I love Gurren Lagann, but honestly, I probably would have felt the same way you do if I had watched it after hearing about how FUCKAWESOME it is. I went into it without really having expectations, because I had no idea what it was about, and had only seen some porn of it and heard Viral was hot, rather than people saying "HELL YEAH THIS IS THE GREATEST ANIME EVER." It's now my favorite anime, but simply because it's the first anime I've seen in a really long time that I actually find fun to watch. So I wouldn't say it's necessarily a great anime, just one that entertains me a lot.

Also, I'm sure not everyone loves it. Popular anime always seems to have about the same number of people who hate it as people who love it, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of other people who agree with you, somewhere.

[identity profile] yummycoffee.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
3. Just got into the series myself and sorry to say, my slash goggles are ON and set to SUPER RAINBOW GAY mode. 8D But then, that's what attracts me to sports anime/manga anyway...the friendship between guys who play sports is one of the gayest things evar, I swear. I wouldn't mind seeing a doujin of any of them getting it on, cause I don't mind underage porn if it's between two underage people (but the adult/underage pairings with a really big age gap are gwoss). I mean, it's not like real kids their age aren't already sticking their dicks in holes, lol.

ANYWAY, glad you are feeling great about staying clean. I feel the same way with Harry Potter, oddly enough. XD

9. Hooray for Wondermark!
12. ...huh. Well, I guess he does have four hands...
16. Be open about your love for Shinji! The poor kid needs it.

I started watching it because I caved into the hype, and I started getting bored at episode 8 too. But seriously, now that I've seen all of the episodes, I'd have to say that it doesn't start getting really good until 17 and on--It's almost like a completely different show at times.

Re: 25 from OP.

Especially after reading your comment (as opposed to that "WHAT?! IT'S AWESOME" sentiments), I might eventually watch more of it when I have less on my plate and have time to wade through ten more boring eps. XD I wouldn't mind giving it another try, I'm just so ANNOYED by it right now!
Thank you!

20. GO FOR IT! (Actually, I'm really glad my roommate doesn't know my LJ identity, because that could be somewhat embarrassing.)

32. LOL...actually, I kept thinking that during a number of episodes, so you're not alone.

23. See, I don't believe that homophobic necessarily makes someone a bad person any more than being a little bit sexist makes them a bad person. Example --> My sister's boyfriend is wildly homophobic due to being molested. He's also one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. Point: negative character trait =/= bad person, mmkay.

Personally, I think that guy did a really damn good job with Ed. He's also not bad looking but jakgfak that has no bearing on my opinion.

25. I... think I might know who you are ♥ I'm the same way with The Melancholy of Haruhi. I wanted to like it but people just won't shut the fuck up about it and it's kind of... boring :\

[identity profile] mireia-antonina.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
12. A Jackie Chan Adventures secret? ILU so much even if I am more partial to Tarakudo - er, I mean - >_>

24. Aren't they releasing a live DVD soon? I saw something about it when I was browsing [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt the other day.

[identity profile] kosher-jenny.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
1. Aww. Just...aww. :) Because he wouldn't want a guy as sweet and kind as Goofy?

7. Father Ted secret! :D That episode was great. I mean, all the episodes are great, but that one especially so.

9. Wondermark is great. I find it even funnier because I actually own a bunch of those copyright-free Victorian illustration books that Malki uses for his stripes. I like how he'll make subtle changes to the original pictures to make them more appropriate for the comic, like slightly changing an expression.

11. This secret weirds me out, because Ian McShane will always be Lovejoy to me. D: I know the series is supposed to be amazing and I probably will watch it at some point and love it, but still! Lovejoy! Beating women! WTF.

16. Aww, Shinji. It's funny, because the more I read about how much he sucked, the more I started to sympathize with and like him. I haven't seen the new movies yet though. Are there any fansubs out there yet?

20. Dude, get yerself a fandom-only journal then! Problem solved.

21. Well, I don't know about the judging thing (but yeah, that is something you should feel bad about) but I went through a similar thing a while back. I really got into American comics and just about stopped reading manga altogether. Part of it was that, at the time, I was a member of a community where I was constantly finding out about new and interesting American series and getting into those. And then I would wander into the manga section at Borders and be completely lost. At that point there were just too many titles for me to just be able to browse and find something good, which is still true. So for a while I almost exclusively read American comics. Then I started coming across some recommendations for great manga series and review blogs that also reviewed manga and I started finding series that I loved from both sides of the Pacific. So these days my reading list is fairly balanced, and I always love finding new and interesting series from all over, across all sorts of genres.

Now my only wish is that I could read more Euro comics. This one drives me crazy, because there are some titles that look friggin' gorgeous, but aren't available in English, and there doesn't really seem to be a fan-translation movement like there is with manga. >:

TL;DR: I was like you once, but I got better. :D

25. I keep hearing about this series and I start to wonder if by the time I get around to seeing it all the hype will have shorted me out and I'll just be underwhelmed.

Re: Eva movies! Only one movie out so far, and it's only been out in theaters for a little over two weeks... so it'll probably be a while longer before it shows up online. T^T

I'm in both, and honestly, bandom can be just as bad as fandom. Mainly the "it" bands of the moment. The fans can just be as bad as Naruto and Avatar fanbrats.

[identity profile] vespawoman.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
21. I'm the exact opposite, except I don't judge people for liking American Comics. There's just not much that interests me, and I don't like how comics in America are handled. I much prefer consistency in story lines and art in manga over a bajillion AU's that don't make any sense.

[identity profile] kidalana.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
20. I know how that feels.
25. I watched it too, and I didn't see anything special either. It was a nice premise but wasn't followed up too well in my opinion. ^^ Plus I wasn't too thrilled at the character's clothing choices. <3

[identity profile] banjocatbanjo.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
3. I'm... so happy for you, not feeling like a pedo watching Oofuri. T^Tb (I don't find any of the characters attractive but I've already read porn doujinshi with Mihashi and Abe and I HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN TO THE FOURTH EPISODE YET. H-hurry up, bittorrent.)

11. Deadwood! :D I'll always remember it as the show that made me lust after thick, manly mustaches.

16. I feel for you bb. I really, really liked him in the movie!

16's OP

(Anonymous) 2007-09-17 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
He was honestly SO MUCH LOVE in the movie! I think the movie portrayed more of him that we didn't see in the series. It's not that they portrayed him better (which they kinda did) but they always succeeded in adding components of him where you figured: "That's still Shinji. They're not sugar-coating him, but he's so much more likable."

(the part of him sleeping in the cardboard box? Man. My heart.)
