Congrats!

Sam/Gabriel didn't used to be a thing. I remember the two people on my flist who basically decided to make it a thing somewhere 'round about season 5-6. I remember thinking "this is too BS and craptastic to work", too. But sadly, I was wrong.

At any rater, it's totally manufactured and the people who got the ball rolling (at least, in my corner of SPN fandom) KNEW it was manufactured when they started out with it.

This! I'm always super flattered when people assume I bought something that I made. I feel all professional and shit. :D

I dunno, if you're sleepy and not scared anymore, it might be better to have those two hours.

so i dunno if Borderlands 2 counts as an MMO but it sure feels like one...

anyway, in the past week i have gotten involved in like, 3 different forum nerd fights about what weapon sets are broken vs overpowered and whether or not a PvE game needs nerfs and the whole thing is very embarrassing in retrospect. /o\

The Lottery.

Ralph's actions there were that of a parent trying desperately to protect a child they thought would be very hurt or worse if they went through with this. He was under the impression Vanellope winning might have Sugar Rush unplugged, and then she'd be dead because she couldn't leave the game. It was akin to taking a toy from a child because they're chewing it to pieces and have choked on it once, and next time, you might not be there to help.

And it's this way because of what King Candy tells him.

But I'm not agreeing to the idea that the Doctor was a dick given the set up of the episode.

Sorry, but yes, he was. He lashed out at an innocent person--a person who was also scared, btw, and with far more reason, seeing as she was personally in actual peril at the time he was yelling at her--because he was upset, in a circumstance he could have EASILY fixed.

Had the Doctor read the book, he would have known about the wrist, but he ALSO would have known that the circumstances weren't as dire as he thought and he might have, I dunno, been nice to the woman he supposedly loves as she stands there trapped by a Weeping Angel, and again after she'd broken her wrist to free herself. Hell, even if he'd been there, and ended up being responsible for it, he would have been there for her, helping her, instead of LITERALLY adding insult to injury. She also wouldn't have felt the need to hide it from him later.

Re: Sheltered fan rant

You're right, I know. And I know everything is relative, and people have different ways of looking at things. I guess I'm just frustrated at scads of teenagers feeling like they can relate to experiences that I'm pretty sure most of them have never been close to.

But I shouldn't be-- if it helps them feel less lonely and helpless with their situation, that's good.

I guess... I just wish I could talk about my situations in these fandoms without feeling like a freak. But that is kind of willfully stupid of me, because the majority of people won't ever have the kinds of experience I have, which is why they're so drawn to representations of terror and pain in creative media, because they can enjoy it from a safe distance and feel cathartic, without actually having lived it.

I'm sorry I'm just feeling stupid and lonely in fan space, because I can't talk about why I feel I relate to the characters, when lots of other people feel that they can.

I'm new to WoW, have three active characters (all pandaren cause i don't really like the look of the races, except for Worgen and Tauren), but man, when people said WoW players were asses, they weren't kidding. I've been left in so many dungeons because I refuse to cooperate with asshole leader tanks. Fuck'em.

SWTOR has nicer players the further away you get from the capitol worlds and the first planet after (Taris/Balmorra respectively).

Re: Can we just agree on this?

[personal profile] belleweather 2013-05-08 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
UGH, YES.

I hate it when people tag minor and background pairings because as someone who reads a lot of rare pairs and has a lot of OTPs that are often considered default background pairings, then I CAN'T filter them out. If I'm reading something that is tagged for my pairing, I want to actually read a story about that pairing, not something that's actually about someone totally different and they're window-dressing in it. (And given that some people tag in order of major pairing -> minor pairing and some people tag from first chronological pairing in the story!verse -> current/ending pairing there is no real way to tell from the tags.)

Maybe the only thing we can all really agree on is that man, the tagging system on AO3 *really sucks* for easily and accurately finding the fic you want to read?

I'm pretty much like this too. A lot of my playlists are organized by season (or, alternatively, by weather). But music is also particularly strongly tied to memories for me as well, so once I've listened to a song/playlist/artist for awhile, it will usually be forever linked to that particular time in my life. So the seasons might follow from that in part.

Nothing wrong with fantasizing about it, though. I think it's a fun scenario. All you gotta do is get your hair and makeup professionally done, and then show up at parties wearing extremely nice clothes? And you can do whatever the fuck you want the rest of the time? Hell yes.

Too many students at different knowledge levels is an issue that teachers can't solve easily. Sometimes it isn't really the teacher being at fault because they are so used to students not understanding a topic they're talking about NOW, they forget it might be a much more basic concept that's causing students problems. You can try fixing the 11th wheel in the machine as much as you want, but the machine won't work if the 1st wheel is missing! (I don't know if this analogy works, haha...)

Good luck!

He already knew about her wrist and yes it fucking was as dire as he feared! THAT THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT! I don't get where you think reading the book would have changed anything other than to confirm his fears that the worst was going to happen.

Those balls with duck feet.

[personal profile] starphotographs 2013-05-08 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Does anybody remember these... Small (a little bigger than a golf/ping-pong ball?) rubber balls with duck feet dangling from them? There was nothing else duck-like about them except for the feet, and I think they came in different sort of marbled colors? I think they were around in the early 90s.

My memory of them is really hazy, and I forget about them entirely most of the time, but every time they pop in to my head, it drives me nuts because I don't remember WTF they were called, and I can't find information on them anywhere.

So, is this something any of you are familiar with?
