I'm a little distracted from the main secret by the beginning -- are you implying that it's impossible to like both Ten and Eleven and you like Eleven and not Ten, or are you saying that you like both Ten and Eleven, but are under the impression that everyone else who likes Ten dislikes Eleven? Because, uh, neither is true. Lots of people like both.

As for the main secret...is this really a secret anymore? This is pretty much everyone's opinion, even the diehard Moffat fans'.

IDK, I think the diehard fans are still fans, but yeah. Even my family members who just sort of casually watch Doctor Who have been losing interest with Moffat's recent stuff.

I'm not sure what the first bit is suggesting either, but I like both Ten and Eleven. If I had to choose one over the other it would be awfully difficult.

And while you're correct in that this isn't exactly an unpopular opinion these days, a secrets a secret. (Which I agree with, btw. I like Doctor Who and don't think I'll quit watching anytime soon, but I don't feel much excitement for it anymore.)

This is how I feel too. And also, even if a person likes one character more than another character, doesn't mean they don't still like the second character.

This seems to be the general consensus among Whovians. Even the old timers are mostly watching out of nostalgia than because they're looking forward to the next episode.

Take the most recent one; it was fun drawing comparisons to the older Sherlock Holmes stuff, but toward the end with the kids, the plot was still not interesting enough to keep me from noticing every single inconsistency.

Spoiler Alert!

Really? Two kids are blackmailing Clara or they'll tell their dad that their babysitter's a time-traveler? Is that supposed to be threatening? At all?

Two kids are blackmailing Clara or they'll tell their dad that their babysitter's a time-traveler?

Yeah, because that's the kind of thing their dad would believe. Unless he's had a freaky timey wimey experience of his own. IDK, has he?

Anyway, so what? If he fired me over that, I'd be like, well, I'm a time traveler, so I don't care. See ya.

Is this being treated as a legitimate threat? Something Clara worried about? I'm am also episodes behind.

The previews for the next episode includes the two kids going to a foreign planet, so I assume the most pointless threat in human history (not made by North Korea) actually works.

Maybe I should try this on my boss, see if it gets me any vacation time. /s

Did I write this secret in my sleep?

I am two episodes behind this season and I'm finding it hard to force myself to watch. When only a few years ago I was screaming at my computer for someone overseas to upload the episodes on youtube because I couldn't wait the few weeks it would take for BBCAmerica to air them.

I love 11th Doctor. He is my favorite. But, God, Clara is so boring and the episodes have been so bad. And not in a cheesy, entertaining way of bad. Just dull.

[personal profile] kadira 2013-05-10 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. I still love the Doctor and 11 happens to be my favorite new!school doctor, but the latest episodes just aren't doing it for me anymore. Clara actually bores me, which never happened before with a companion, even the less liked ones. I get that she is super special and all that, but so far I have yet to see it. Just being pretty and looking wide-eyed into the camera is not all that convincing and just doesn't cut it for me. Ugh!

I hope Moffat will manage to get back on track. Well, and if not - more time to catch up with classic!Who. It would still be a shame, though.

I have zero's faith in Moffat's ability to write an engaging, clever or coherent plot.

BUT I am looooving JLC as Clara. She just brings a really fresh vibe to the show.

I was there at WonderCon when they showed the preview of Bells of St. John before the rest of the world, and everyone there seemed to love her. She's fine in my book. There have been companions throughout the years I've -looaaaathed.- But she seems fun.

But... Moffat... I'm not so much worried about coherency as I am about horribly underwhelming season enders and all that. The worst thing I've experienced in TV is underwhelming plot wrap-ups and "surprises." I don't want my DW to go through that... (again?)

[personal profile] ryttu3k 2013-05-09 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, pretty much. I do keep watching them, but it's like... the desire to discuss them for hours, the desire to download them the INSTANT they're available online (not that I have long to wait - they air in the UK at about 4 AM on Sunday morning, my time, and air here on Sunday evening), it's pretty much gone. And instead of being hugely excited about the season finale, I'm almost dreading it.

It's sad :(

I'm three episodes behind because I can't muster up enough interest to make myself watch. I'll make sure to get myself caught up before the finale, but it feels like a chore. Like, I want to discuss stuff with other fans, but I'm too apathetic. Possibly because I truly DGAF about the stupid Clara mystery and I'm also kind of dreading the 50th Anniversary. And I'm slightly afraid that if I hear that "Doctor Who?" gag one more goddamn time I might ragequit the entire fictional universe.

Is the Neil Gaiman episode out yet? That might give me some incentive to watch. Even though though that might turn out bad as well.

Honestly, it's the only one I'll go out of my way to grab on itunes.

If it gets your interest up any, the last three episodes have been the best this season aside from A Town Called Mercy. Especially Hide. Hide is like the better kind of RTD angst wrapped up in Eleven's disaffection and Seven's manipulative bastardry, in a Four gothic horror serial set in classic UNIT era. It should've been a two-parter--I would totally have watched an hour and a half of that.

He's scarier looking than Cucumberpatch.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but unlike Sherlock Holmes, the Doctor is an alien and he is supposed to look weird.

Still a pity that he doesn't have a name that can be humorously mangled though. :(

I haven't been fussed on this season so far. The only episode I've really liked was last weeks. My mother and grandmother who watch the show as well, haven't enjoyed this season much either.

I feel like DW now is all about fast talking, explanations with out explaining, and not much else.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I feel this way to an extent but honestly my enjoyment in Doctor Who these days is 100% because of Clara and Eleven. I love Eleven, I do, but this half series he's pretty much the worst. Shame because he's looking really hot! And Clara, I like her, but I don't like them together or the way things seem to be going. I'm dreading it. Absolutely frightened out of my mind.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
lack of* enjoyment

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Uh oh. Why is he the worst? I haven't watched 7b yet (and I don't mind spoilers so feel free to spoil me), but I was hoping that he'd be likable since he got past some issues in The Snowmen :(
