19. You're never too old to have fun, and if fandom is fun for you, that's that. No need to feel like a pathetic loser.

23. Slice of life anime is FTW. ♥

I always thought Jayne had a crush on Kaylee. But, for some reason, I ship just about anyone on this show with anyone else.

Jayne/Kaylee? I can dig it. Simon/Kaylee? Yeah, I'm down.

But I have even weird ones, like...

Jayne/River
Mal/Kaylee
Mal/River

Although I don't read much slash, I could see any combination of the guys together. (Book and Jayne? Totally! ...I'm weird.)

Except Zoe and Wash. Those two are fine as is.

(...although I could totally see Zoe/Mal. >_>)

[identity profile] sinverguenza.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
oh my goodness, none of those are weird! firefly lends itself to harmonious shipping :)

i myself adore jayne/river and mal/river. and yeah, even a bit of zoe/mal too.

truly weird is simon/river (which im down with, on occasion!)

24. I hate it when I see people wearing Naruto headbands on their heads in public. I just think it's so... stupid. :| YOU AREN'T NINJAS, GUYZ.

[identity profile] nabradia.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
People wear Naruto headbands in public? D= I've threatened to do it to embarrass a friend, but I'd never -actually- do it. I'd be mortified! XD

Write it/draw it/whatever it and send it to me. Or, hey, give me the plot and I'LL write/draw it for the both of us. We'll be 'thrope and Were' lovers together!

Re: 13

ps. Claws make everything better <3

[identity profile] radarsparks.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
4. Yeah. Strangely enough, a friend of mine was going through Boy Meets Boy and sending me links to certain strips earlier today. o.O

13. I was with you until the arousing/yaoi deal. Er. I would like to shape-shift/morph though, that would be cool. I think every little kid pretends to be animals. Animorphs made it cooler.

13 op

(Anonymous) 2007-09-22 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
it's funny, I think I made myself sound like a furry now that I read it again, but I guess I just didn't express myself clearly, soooo...

1.) I would like to shape-shift/morph, like you said, it's cool!
2.) I do not fantasize about having sex while in that form or see a complete transformation arousing.
3.) I like anime-esque animal boys and I like it when they have sex with each other in typical yaoi fashion. So what I meant by arousing was...like animal ears (on the side of the head, not double ears like in Loveless), a tail (or tails), some fangs, maybe the species specific pupil (reptile, cat, horse, etc).

I dunno I don't consider that stuff furry cause the character keeps the original human form for the most part but there's just a few extra add-ons. I find THAT really sexy.

but eh I'll just keep laughing as the meanies taking out their furry hate. I'm not a furry but I don't look down on them for it. But the internet is for jerks, lawl.

Is it weird that I like all the anime shown in that secret? Or should I just say Gyabo~! and go away? xDD

[identity profile] downburst.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
23. I'm the exact opposite. Slice of life has a tendency to BORE ME TO DEATH. I need ACTION goddamnit.

3, 31: That's old school! Hold your head(s) up high!

23: Nice graphic match between the Ergo Proxy/GitS pics. I have to say that Slice of Life anime tends to be more maturely written, and that's a big attractor for me, so I can understand where you're coming from. (At the same time, I think GitS:SAC rules I)

[identity profile] annwyd.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
1.

10. I know how you feel. There are some characters who I'd like to explore the idea of romance with in fic, but I just don't see anyone as being appropriate for them. And I'm way too embarrassed to write them an OC.

Still, I have a lot more respect for people who write believable OCs with a difficult-to-pair character than those who just toss them at the nearest canon character, sometimes even if said canon character is related to them (and I'm not talking about the people who appreciate incest ships for what they are, which is cool, but about the people who ship incest simply because they don't see any other options for pairing up the characters in question), wildly different in personality/outlook/goals/etc, or creepily inappropriate in some other way. Not that I have anything against people who ship weird pairings because they genuinely like the pairing, but sometimes it just seems like they don't so much care about the pairing as they do about seeing their favorite character paired up.

To wrap up that tl;dr with some encouragement: when I was much younger and in some ways more shameless, I did do a canon character/OC fanfiction for a favorite of mine who I just couldn't see with any of the canon cast. Not many people read it, but the ones who did liked it.

You're never too old for fandom. Just because your life changes doesn't mean that you have to fall out of love with things that you like.

[identity profile] atalantapendrag.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed... fandom being a teenybopper thing is really an Internet-fuelled phenomenon, there are plenty of older fans.

[identity profile] rilani.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
1. You can't make OT4s so early into watching it. Dude, you have to wait. (Besides, I can't picture them in some sort of a foursome. They're all just friends, IMO. Well, except Turk and Carla.)

7. Axel = unattractive and untalented musician?... You lost me.

13. ... Thats... Furry. D: This secret totally wierds me out.

23. What about slice of life AND scifi? :3 (Oh Noein, you krazy kat)

24. It is. IN AMERICA. [/Bandit Keith]

29. Its not pedo if you're the same age as them~ (Lucky me)

(Anonymous) 2007-09-22 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, since making that secret, I've seen three whole seasons. Still my OT4.

...sorry? ;-;

23: That's Nodame Cantabile, right? kdjng I was having a bored moment and I downloaded the Live Action. It's cute kdjfngjn and it made me laugh, so I guess I agree because as interesting as I find Darker Than Black and Ghost in the Shell there's only so many of those kind of shows you can watch. Besides, the cute cheers me up dfkgjnfg

[identity profile] terrie.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
17. YES Wheeler/Linka ♥

24. I agree. God I see kids my age (early 20s!) wearing those and I want to cry. :[

[identity profile] revulo.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
#1 and #4: I completely agree, lol.
#19: THOSE ARE AWESOME OLD PEOPLE IN THIS SECRET. I lol'd
#29: ....AGH, I JUST REMEMBERED. *dies a little inside* Now I feel bad for thinking Sokka looks cool...

[identity profile] call-me-ishmael.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
9 - I agree wholeheartedly.
Not!secret 1 - ....straight Fai? WHAT? o.O There weren't even any girls he really interacted with aside from Sakura! WTF did the anime DO? Sounds like it's a good thing I didn't watch it, if they screwed shit up so bad.
The more I hear about this Vic guy, the happier I am I don't bother with dubs.

Here's hoping, right?

[identity profile] post-position.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
23. Agreed. I love slice of life series. Honey and Clover for example, keeled me dead with teh awesome and is just about the best thing evar IMO. I haven't heard of teh one you mention in your secret though. >.>!

24. oh so true. I...wanted my rock lee action figure though XD!!!!

(Anonymous) 2007-09-21 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
13) There's a fair (http://tsa.transform.to/) bit of (http://dragon.furvect.com/main.html) that stuff (http://tfseeker.tfcentral.com/index.html) out there for you.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-21 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
30. I'm sorry, but that's creepy.

19. I honestly don't believe there's an age limit to fandom.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-21 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a rhetorical question :(

But oh well, live and learn.

[identity profile] melime.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
19) Oh, pish. There's nothing wrong with being older and liking fandom (also, mid-twenties? You're not old at all! I'm twenty-two and I don't even feel like a "real" adult yet)! I'm sorry you can't just enjoy it for enjoying it.

Heck, my mom's in her fifties and she was giddy as a girl when we went to DragonCon together. <3 I hope I'm still in fandom when I'm older... it's so much fun, and filled with so much creativity.

[identity profile] lunarkitten.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Too old for fandom? Does not compute! I'm probably going to be nerding it up for years to come. I'll probably even find myself watching TV with my children and go "Oh yeah, this show must have some awesome fanfic." Eh-heh.

31. A Zork secret! Wow. I loved those old text games, even if I sucked at them. They were so fun. I think the only one I ever actually beat was Planetfall.

Just from reading your secret it's obvious you're not one of those SPESHAL writers who believe their every paragraph is a gift of perfection they bestow on their readers.

It's those SPESHAL writers sitting on Mount Olympus, taking cheap pot-shots at other writers, who are *rarely* as good as *they* think they are.

It sounds like you're capable of being honest with yourself.
I suspect you're every bit as good as you think you are (if not better).
There's nothing wrong with knowing your writing's above average or knowing it's damned good.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF A LITTLE THING CALLED BISEXUALITY?

'CAUSE IT APPEARS THE MAJORITY OF THE TSUBASA FANDOM HASN'T.

Only the tsubasa fandom? HA! More like every single fandom under the sun.
