34, I wonder if there is a community we could start where we could play "get to know the tiny fandom." I would sure love to play that game.

Everyone should play Okami because it's just a fun game for ANYONE. Except maybe the crazy hardcore gamers who like things to be so hard it makes them want to cry.

I know a few people who don't even really like video games and they played (and loved) Okami.

2) There are plenty of teachers that are proud of their job and their interests. Were you ever in the Digimon or Teen Titans fandom? Lady Timedramon, the lemon-writing elementary school teacher BNF, often commented that her students were surprised when she corrected character name spellings, but that was as far as anything went.

38. Ughhh so true. (I want to play that game mostly because of her hair, though. o.o) There have been strong female characters around for a while. (but not enough of them, really.) I'm still waiting for a strong female character with a practical outfit, though.

2) I don't know what level of school you're about to teach, but I can tell you that I've never hidden my fannish leanings in my teaching at any of the places I've taught: elementary and junior high school, and now, community college. In fact, I usually work the comics and TV shows I'm a fan of into my lessons (fill-in-the-blank dialogue from comic books for ESL classes; media criticism with the opening credits of Six Feet Under and Firefly.) I don't talk about my OTPs or squee hysterically, but I do make it clear that I would like to get out of class in time to catch 'Lost'. More often than not, this reminds my students that there teacher is human. I'd said my fandoms have been an advantage in what I do, and I'm proud to be a teacher and a fan.
