(Anonymous) 2013-07-23 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)There's a second baby on the way for Jared, so shit is about to hit the fan again from them.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-24 12:17 am (UTC)(link)Idk, I was in a comm like this for a while (not explicitly for shipping, just for ridiculousness), and from a loooooot of those people I got the vibe that they were just nutty on purpose? Some were gross, and their comments about the wives (who were at the time just girlfriends) were what eventually ran me off, but that "I can't tell if serious or..." vibe never quite left me.
Some of the legit tinhatters have far outpaced Domlijah fans, though. I just can't tell the trolls from the real ones most of the time, and then I see other SPN/J2 fans side-eyeing the fuck out of them, and I almost feel sorry for the fandom and the bad rap it gets.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-23 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)However, if that's your only brush with an RPS fandom... I can totally understand why you think we're all creepy.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-24 02:38 am (UTC)(link)- The Tin-Hatter, convinced it's real and any evidence and marriages to the contrary are part of a cover-up.
- The Public-Personas-As-Characters-Shipper, who is treating public appearances as a sort of canon from which fic (missing scenes fic, yo) and meta may be derived. Sometimes involves non-famous people.
- The AUer - While maintaining very basic traits of public personas, and sometimes part of their life stories, creates original stories that are clearly fabrications.
- The Fuck-It, That's Pretty Fan - Have abandoned all pretense that this has anything to do with anything other than the actors' looks. Lengthy AUs with original characterisations usually fall here.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-23 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)I write RPS. I love RPS. I write my RPS characterization based on the interviews my favorite singers gave when they were actually giving interviews.
My main fandom was popslash. Where the guys HAD to act a certain way because that's how they were marketed. So no, I'm pretty sure that Justin wasn't a devoted boyfriend to Britney Spears and a virgin until they broke up, JC isn't a total space case that lives in his own world, Joey didn't slept with anything that had two legs, Lance was never planning world domination and Chris wasn't a 10 year old in a 30 year old body.
I couldn't care less how they are in real life. I ship the image they present, that it's as much of a fake character as any role they might play on the screen.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-23 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)But it's never going to be the same thing as shipping characters. People, regardless of how they behave in front of one group or another, are always displaying some facet of themselves. This reduction of someone in to one particular part with which you can play because it's "fake" just rubs me the wrong way eight ways to Jupiter.
I'm not into RPF and I know there isn't a damn thing in this world that's going to make people stop liking it. If you do, cool, whatever--it's just that this really sketchy bizarre stretch that "Oh, it's okay, who they are in public is just a character anyway" that people always bring up without fail that's seriously YEESH in all the wrong ways. I mean, tons of completely regular people fantasize about two famous people getting their thang on without making creepy "oh, their public persona is fake anyway" excuses, so..?
