18. Yes yes yes yes yes I said yes ♥
(I wasn't as strong as you: I've secretly written [very Mary Sue] self-insert stories.

But they basically encouraged self-insert with those games, I swear.)

17. You are never too old. NEVER.
21. Don't care about the secret just savin' the picture.
25. Nono >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> EVERYONE. I've cried twice over the ending now. (And not once for Nia, ahaha.)

#3: CORNER GAS SECRET! WOOT! ♥♥♥ Why would anyone feel guilty for liking that show? O:

[identity profile] friendshipbeam.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
I had no idea it had this many fans! I love that show. XD

[identity profile] zettosan.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
If you're only playing games for cred with the boys, then you're just going to wind up looking like an idiot.

Want to REALLY impress the boys about gaming? Be yourself. They'll think you're cool, even if you want to show them your Pokemons or whatever game you think is girly because, PROTIP: The boys are probably playing it too.

Re: 10

(Anonymous) 2007-10-12 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, well, I'm PLAYING whatever the hell I want, because I want to. It's just that when I'm in public there's this sort of... I just want to show I belong there.

Good point, though.

17. Oh, honey. I'm 30 years old. My husband is 36. We own pretty much EVERY SINGLE POKEMON GAME IN EXISTANCE. You're NEVER too old. Trust me. =3 *sends hugs* <3<3

17

[identity profile] zettosan.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Lord knows I'll be playing those games when I'm an old fart. Like, 50, if Pokemans is still around. I hope it is. :

10. I really don't understand the rift between guys and girls who game. I mean, what's the point? I love Elebits, which I suppose is a girl game, but it sure was one of my guy friends who pre-ordered it and not me. Shouldn't we be able to all enjoy a good game without worrying about how it reflects on our gender? o.0

Just enjoy what you will, and to hell with those who would judge you based on that! You don't need "cred" in the eyes of petty people who are so easily influenced by gender roles in the first place.

[identity profile] yami-chan.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
21. Motto. People put way too much stock in fandom. It's just a hobby, calm the fuck down people.

22. Try Akimi Yoshida's Banana Fish (light shounen ai but a great story and with a more shounen manga feel), and Kodaka Kazuma's Kizuna (shounen manga style with butt sex!). Also Bohra Naono draws more masculine looking guys. Not all shoujo follows the same style, it's just hard to find good ones that don't.

[identity profile] kohda.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
7. That is awesome! I think she's a great namesake. Also, I kind of want to meet the dad that named his daughter Nyssa. That's very brave, considering what happened to Tremas and all...

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
34. It's Victorian England. Them being cousins is not a problem at all, historically.

[identity profile] downburst.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
12. OH GOD THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY ME.

... well, minus the whole "forcing myself to read something" part, but lol I can't stand shoujo/slice of life. It's so DULL dfakjsadf

ALSO MIGHT I RECOMMEND GURREN LAGANN???

[identity profile] jazz-glass.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
5. I find this stranger than most pairings, so good on you for that. Also, you win for the Blazing Saddles secret. I giggled.

27. My friend was so hugely into this fandom. I remember all the sites and stuff she sent me. Oh, the memories.

[identity profile] corydrane.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
2. Awesomeness.
21. Secret is made of fail (not even a secret), but the pic is total win.
29. Mormonism and fandom were never meant to be together....

[identity profile] ccmars.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
10. Come to Washington state. We actually have a decent amount of girl gamers (at least in my experience) and none of the game stores in my town have given me any crap for being one.

16. Flower died?! ;_____; I've been missing out on this show.

17. I got Pokemon Pearl over a month ago. You're never too old for Pokemon!

21. How sad that the only thing I can think of in relation to this secret is, "What hentai is that?"

22. Novel art > Animation >>>>>>>> Manga art. Once again this has nothing to do with the secret at hand. ^^;;

[identity profile] doinkies.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't care much for Nagasawa Satoru's art either, though the cover of the third manga volume was pretty.

10. Try going to tournaments and gaming places, if you can't afford a certain good game/don't have the console.

Around those places I'm still "that one chick", but at least they recognize me. xD

However I am completely against pretending to like the most popular/best-selling games or feeling guilty about "girly" ones. If you really want to get in the gaming club-thing, at least be proud of being a gamer. You're surely not proud, if you're not proud of the games you like to start with.

In fact, if there are reasons why don't initially like some of the most popular games, discuss them. All the better.

Re: #10

(Anonymous) 2007-10-12 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not a very GOOD gamer though, or very social, so I don't know if that'd work for me. XD; Worth a shot, though, I guess.

Oh, no, I don't pretend to like anything - I buy what I want and play what I like. And I only feel a little guilty about my "girly" games. But, yeah, even that little bit of guilt is unhelpful.

Thanks for the advice.

Gender equality is impossible as long as people keep segregating themselves with terms like that and trying to one-up the guys. The point of feminism isn't to be like the other gender or be in competition with the other gender.

I try to impress the male gamers I see with my gaming intellect as well, but I don't do it for anything concerning feminism or any of that. It's because that, if I were to date anyone, I want it to be somebody who can keep up with me. ;D

imho.

28. I am totally in the same boat. My fetishes are transformation and beastiality, but I'm so scared that someone will just think I'm some "furfag" or something (And I'm not a furry, nor do I have anything against furries at all). I have to hide links and folders (yay Transfur~) from my friends and family, and I fear the day that one of them will find out I get off to this sort of stuff.

Tentacles? Used to hate them, but they can lead to some pretty hot stuff...and I used to hate shota, but it's starting to turn me on too.

I'm so very happy that you made this secret. It makes me feel a little better to know other people are out there and thinking similar things too! ♥ ♥ ♥

(Anonymous) 2007-10-12 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'm same in the 'used to dislike but totally grew to love' thing. My friends in fandom actually think I'm a pretty tame fangirl but they're so wrong. People talk about their mild kinks like a big secret sometimes... I'm over in the other corner like "Hi, I like people being mind-controlled into sluts and werewolves and people with dogs and armies of tentacles and POKEMON."

So glad some other people know how it feels!

6. If all writers only wrote about what they had personally experienced, themselves, there'd be absolutely nothing interesting to read. Yeah, it's irritating when someone doesn't know what they're talking about (and then proceeds to try to write about it), but you're making yourself sound like an asshole, too. Quit taking yourself so seriously.

16. I saw that show a couple of times... looked kind of neat. :/ Sucks that she's gone; I remember her, too.

35. Well, now that I've read that secret, we're in the same boat. ☆ Sweet.

Why am I not authorized to go to the submission post?

[identity profile] repeatvoffender.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Your probably clicking on a link to an old submissions post. They're made private to only the mods once they're closed, and the link is probably to the wrong entry. Try going directly to the community, and scrolling down until you see the current submissions post?

Also, they might have actually started closing them. Last time I checked they had over 200 secrets posted, and the new statement was that they're closing them after 350 a week.

It IS pretty amazing to think old farts like those thirty year olds can still look attractive with their sagging, wrinkly, elderly bodies!

23. When one of my best friends was little, he used to have night terrors during which he was convinced his Alf doll was not only alive, but evil and trying to kill him.

34. Me too! At least in regards to Maggie Smith.

[identity profile] sashwizzled.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
While I agree that it's not a good idea to go randomly making characters do anything without some good build up first, including commiting suicide...

Fandom does not cater to you and your issues. Get over it.

Re: 6.

[identity profile] sashwizzled.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Also, I fucking hate the 'don't write something unless you've experienced it' argument. I've written Pokemon, Devil May Cry, Battle Royale and Dino Crisis fanfiction and that's not an exhaustive list.

I am not a Pokemon trainer.
I am not half demon.
I will not be thrown onto an abandoned island and made to kill my classmates.
I have never been chased by an angry T-Rex.

Shucks. I'll quit while I'm ahead, shall I?
