I bought a new chrome handheld shower thing and I am ridiculously happy with it. It's got a bunch of settings and a water-saving feature I don't understand but appreciate.

Now I'm imagining that as one of Dhalsim's secret special attacks in the Street Fighter games. Stated in that same stilted voice as in SF2... "Yoga Butt...!" Possibly combined with Yoga Flame.

You're probably right, it was just sooo long ago... and we've had people randomly say that she plagiarized her own series or that she had someone else write it for her. Maybe those are just trolls.

I had a disastrous visit from an internet friend too. It was partly my fault, and it sounds like this was 100% not your fault, but still I can relate, and I don't blame you for being disappointed and angry.

Though I've met other internet friends in person at conventions and stuff and had a great time, so I haven't given up yet.

I update when I have more to update with. Depending on the story, that's historically been anywhere from every day to every few months.

Some fandoms are really impatient, so I don't post WIPs there. Old fandoms, though, where people have been looking for new material for years anyway? I don't feel like making them wait until I'm all the way done. And kink memes seem to like even small updates as long as they're regular.

David Wellington springs to mind. Wrote and posted books for free on internet, then got publishing deal after it got popular and started selling hard/e-copies.

Yeah I think I know what you mean. I had this experience with an RPF fic and I stopped reading in the fandom because my strong emotional attachment to someone I didn't even know was freaking me out. I didn't think it was that weird- the author just did a really amazing job.

ETA: And it wasn't sexual at all, as you describe. The fic had sex and I was totally bored by it.

There's a test online that you can take to determine if you any color vision deficiency. I thought it was kind of fun, and ended up scoring a 3 (Perfect score is zero, so yay? I guess) Here's the test

She also copied several pages, word for word, from some of Pamela Dean's published works. And the revisionist history is that she did have permission to use it, but she got that permission well after the fact, after the shitstorm had hit and she'd already been banned FFNet for that specific piece of plagiarism. Original fic did not credit the author.

Listen, if someone posted a secret hating on Roman Polanski, you can bet your ass I'd be there with a pitchfork and a few choice words about what a shitty human being I think he is. But THIS secret is about Cassandra Claire. So that's why all the hate here is directed at her instead of Roman Polanski.

I think it was a combination of the plagiarism, the denials and the non-apologies (not even counting her Queen Bee behaviour in the mix). If she'd apologized long long ago when it first happened, it would have defused things. But she didn't, and yes, fandom has a long memory.

She and some groupies tried to have a woman expelled from University (during exams) because of some ALMOST-slight the woman's boyfriend committed against a fangroup.
