Yes, yes, but this isn't a general Post Secrets com where we lament about the moral dissonance found in everyday life. Generally. This secret is specific to fandom regarding the way the movie now makes OP feel. Without the fairly average movie, there'd be no point to the secret.

I just came back from a lovely vacation to a spa, I mean, slaughterhouse. Every morning, I exfoliated. So I murdered living, human cells in my cheeks. The first and last nights I was there, I waxed. Have you tried watching it in parts? Just specific scenes and work yourself up to watching the whole movie that way?

No one is obligated to surrender her body to serve as a life-support system for someone else. OP has every right to be disappointed that a pretty awesome movie actually is tainted for them by the memory of an unpleasant situation that required medical intervention to resolve.

Yeah, I hate it when a unrelated negative association ruins something I otherwise enjoyed.

Ironically, this happened to me watching Juno. It took me a few years, but I was finally able to rewatch it and... not enjoy it because it's ridiculous and has a hamburger phone, lol. But what I'm getting at is this: the unpleasant association wore off once I came to terms with everything. Yours will too. And maybe you can love PR again, or maybe you will decide it's boring and outdated now anyway, but you will move on one day. <3

*Hugs if wanted, OP* I'm really sorry about that, Anon. What happened to you is quite shitty indeed, but you took the decision you thought best, and was able to excersize your rights over your body. So it can be looked at in a positive way, proven you don't listen to rabid prolifers that will scream names at you.

You were brave. It was the right thing. Don't let anyone shame you.

And PR is a fun movie. I hope that, in time, you'll be able to enjoy it again (or not, if it's not your thing, but hopefully the bad associations will disappear.)

However, despite all the stories anti-choicers tell about the psychological effects of abortion, it really does almost always get better over time; people who report otherwise are usually the ones who were pressured into doing it by family/partners &c, not people who choose it freely because they know it's the right thing for them to do at the time.

Don't be afraid to grieve if you feel like grieving. It doesn't mean you feel guilty, it means you made a tough decision. Don't beat yourself up when you feel relieved or happy not to be pregnant. It's totally legitimate to be glad to have avoided something that would fuck up your life.

You don't owe anyone an explanation. Your body, your rules. Your feelings. Be gentle with yourself and let yourself feel what you feel. *hugs*
