I like getting into that headspace too! Maybe just writing some dumb stuff about characters acting ridiculously cute - it may be horribly out of character and be completely unreadable but it's all in good fun.

For porn? Yeah, IA. Especially for characters from books or stylized cartoons/comics and other non-actor mediums where readers might all have their own personal vision of how a character actually looks. It's just a bit...rude, I guess? Like, if it's porn, I assume you're writing this porn for an audience, so if there's a detail that makes no difference to the story, but could be off-putting to some people, why bother going out of your way to point it out?

Though I would argue that what's even more jarring is when characters from live-action mediums where everyone who watches it knows exactly how the character looks and everyone has the same image of the character in their heads, and yet in fic, characters who ARE somewhat unattractive in some ways are described in ways that are definitely too hot/flawless for how their actors actually look. Because that just draws attention to the fact that the actor just plain doesn't look like that and everyone knows it.

I think it makes sense to add the author/artist to the actual post. I bet there are a number of people who don't check the masterpost to find out who wrote/drew what.

I'm actually writing a novel along those lines, where several of the characters have had their lives destroyed by heroic action types. That's how much it bothers me.

So I keep seeing ads that call it the best Disney since the Lion King or Beauty and the Beast. I wasn't going to see it because 1. Disney really dropped the ball on not using the original story which would have been awesome and 2. That stupid looking snowman. Has anyone seen it?

But I assume most porny fic is for an audience, not for the author's sole benefit? I could see why a character-study fic or something would be more for the author's own satisfaction, but porn fic is usually a very audience-oriented endeavor, especially on kinkmemes.

For me, why I'm more into fanfic than watching porn or reading pro erotica is the specificity of bodies and character. I personally find imperfection hotter than perfection, and most of the characters I'm most into aren't physically perfect. It's way more compelling and emotional. YMMV.

1. Any of the sweaters my Mom knitted/crocheted for me when I was in high school. My absolute favorite of those, though, is a tossup between the sweater that's so many different colors and fringed, it looks like a hippie nightmare, and the one that has a portrait of my then-cat on it.

2. I have wanted tattoos and talked myself out of them at various points, mostly due to money issues, and wanting to be able to admire them myself without a mirror.

Uh, there is totally a healthy medium between the two. Not everyone is going to agree with it, but you can make a decent stab at it if you have some grasp of the opinions of people other than yourself.

I never hated the movie as much as other people did, mostly because he's just so charming. So I was thrilled to see him playing Eight again. And he's an attractive man.
