I'm disagreeing with you on the manga versus anime. The anime follows the manga pretty closely and I enjoyed both overall. The anime's worth at least checking out.

That being said, I lost interest near the end of the anime and around chapter 50 of the manga.

No, the anime ruined Eren and Annie's characterization, ruined the walls are titans scene, ruined several great scenes, added unnecessary shipping scenes with Eren and Mikasa and worst of all the pacing was atrocious (see the boulder arc).

And then it barely had animation, reused stills and ruined the women's character designs trying to make them more attractive. The only good thing it had was the music.

The show was and average adaptation, but then it become shit with the last two episodes.

All your other points I've seen before and are valid enough, even though I disagree. I think what the anime added and left out made the series better (although the pacing is still awful.)

Did they need to add lipstick to make them more noticeably? Those characters are soldiers fighting against gian monsters, for god's sake. I'm sure that the last thing on their minds is wearing makeup.

It's an anime, anon--they added color. Lipstick happened to be included in the cases of Mikasa, Annie, and Ymir. Christa, Sasha, Hanji, and Nanaba don't have any, and funny thing, Hanji and Nanaba were originally thought to be men by a large part of fandom. Bet that wouldn't have happened if they'd been wearing lipstick.

Please, don't try to pretend that they only added the lipstick because lips are pink in real life (men and women's, by the way, not only women's) and not because they were trying to make the girls prettier for pandering reasons.

Except I said lipstick in my comment? Some of the female characters have lipstick because surprise, some women like lipstick and some animators like to draw women with lipstick. I don't really care why they added it, but I don't think you've seen much anime if you think lipstick is pandering. Come back when there are upskirt panty shots all over the place.

The anime also ruined Jean's character (made him angry, jealous, and petty, when he was just awesome and sweet in the manga).
And let's not forget all the pointless, ridiculous, aggrandizing scenes they gave to Levi, just because his character is so popular.
It's all the little things like that in the anime that added up, and made it far less enjoyable than the manga

Also, maybe you should warn for spoilers about the second point?

Lol damn. The manga is exactly like the anime except it has better pacing, better characterization (not different characterization- they're the same characters), and the plot makes more sense. Why wouldn't you want to read it?

I will hate them forever for adding the unnecesary Levi scenes. In the manga it was beautiful, SPOILERS his team had died and he couldn't avenge them because of his injury, and he was so frustrated and powerless. And then in the anime who cares about his injury, let's add him using the 3DMG! See people, more Levi scenes!!

Yes, exactly. I liked the anime too (honestly not trying to offend the anime fans here), but it's things like that towards the end that just ruined the anime for me.
Or the scene SPOLIER where one of the men in Hanji's squad attacks Annie's crystal, because (presumably) his teammates were killed during the FT expedition, and Hanji has to hold him back - but in the anime they just have Jean start hitting it, and Levi has to hold him back.. it just filled in popular characters for a scene which originally was so sad (well, for me anyways)

I'd say that's better storytelling, actually. Important scenes should be given to named characters rather than random nobodies. I don't see the point in replacing Hanji with Levi though, except for the obvious popularity points (which is a perfectly fine reason.)

To me, the original scene was more powerful because it subtly showed how emotionally/physically devastating the FT expedition was on the Survey Corps. It also didn't make sense for Jean to do it, because he's not a person that spontaneously acts on his emotions.

mte. I didn't mind that it was Jean, but that part was Hanji's turn not Levi's. He was injured anyway and she was responsible with capturing The Female Titan.

That's really the only part of the anime vs. manga I take issue with.

Worldbuilding, setting of tone, communication of emotion.

If you can't understand the importance of these things in storytelling, I don't know how you can like anything.

In the anime, he was injured after going after the female titan. Did it happen differently in the manga? Because he only used 3DMG once after that, in the final episode, and he was noticeably powerless in episode 22, when other people were in danger.

In the anime they had Levi injured by the female titan. But right after that he was using his 3DMG to attack the female titan again. :/

Uh, Jean is still angry and jealous in the manga too if you've read the most recent chapter he's just like he was in training days. The only thing the anime did to him different was make him obsess over Marco way more than he ever did in the manga.

Although I agree that Levi was pushed in where he was NOT supposed to be there at all just to make him look cool or something.

How so? I personally think his character has grown a lot, and is turning into the 'leader' that Marco saw in him.
It's true that Jean is still pretty jealous of Eren over his relationship with Mikasa, but they really played it up in the anime. For example, the scene in the last episode, where Jean is fuming in his jealousy over Mikasa's concern over Eren, after they captured Annie - that didn't happen in the manga. In the manga, he was only supportive of EMA during the time that Eren was recovering.
And even though he's arrogant, and easily irritated, and what not, he's not 'angry'. He's the type to think with caution before he acts. (Actually one of the few times he's acted impulsively was rescuing Mikasa from the titan)
